For five years, the Chosen 1’s Invitational has asked one question, inspired directly by King James: who is ready to be great?

This year, the Chosen 1’s asks that question in more cities than ever. The second city up is Akron. 

LeBron was born and raised in Akron. It’s always been home, no matter where else he goes. 

He was a star on the court in Akron. But he’s really the king of the city off the court. 

LeBron founded a school in Akron for at-risk youth. We’ll say it again so it sinks in. LeBron opened a school for kids in Akron. Grades 1-8 are taught at the I PROMISE School and the King goes back to campus at least once a year. But not only did he found a school, as if that wasn’t enough. He also started the I PROMISE Housing development, which has provided 50 affordable units in Akron. 

Then, of course, he was also completely, utterly unstoppable on the court at St. Vincent-St. Mary. He was the best high school player ever, dominating a national schedule on his way to three Ohio state championships. The entire world knew his name when he just a teenager. And he somehow lived up to the hype. He and his teammates of the famous Fab Five had ridiculous chemistry. Sure, LeBron’s dunks and blocks were insanely fun to watch. But it was the passes he threw to his friends that were exceptional. Their team was actually a family. 

That’s why SVSM is hosting the last stop of the 2025 Chosen 1’s Invitational on Sunday, December 14. The first game to tip off will be at 5:30 PM when the girls team of the SVSM Irish play host to the Spartans of Richmond Heights. Click here to attend the event. 

Leading the Irish is sophomore four-star big Sydney Ferguson. She’ll be going up against the Spartans’ Honor Hall, a D1 commit. Their battle will be for the bragging rights of Ohio. 

Expect SVSM to be decked out in LBJ history. The Nike LeBron 23 will be on court as the whole event will be a celebration of the King’s entire journey. Nike is also partnering with House Three Thirty for a community giveback, facility refurbishments of SVSM and many more surprises. 

When the lights are bright at SVSM this Sunday, one of these teams will carve out their place in history. Who will wear the crown? Who is ready to be great? Let the game choose.
