Citron, Onyenwere help the Mystics beat the Sun

UNCASVILLE, Conn. (AP) — Sonia Citron had 24 points and a career-high 12 rebounds, Michaela Onyenwere scored 22 points and the Washington Mystics beat Connecticut 88-81 on Wednesday night to extend the Sun’s losing streak to six games.
Rookie center Lauren Betts, the No. 4 overall pick, made her first career start and had 13 points for the Mystics (6-7). Georgia Amoore added 10 points.
Forward Kiki Iriafen (ankle) and center Shakira Austin (knee) did not play for the Mystics.
Leila Lacan made a driving layup with 5:46 left to tie it at 70, and Betts, who finished 9 of 10 from the free-throw line, answered with two foul shots that gave Washington the lead for good.
Aneesah Morrow had 11 points and 10 rebounds for the Sun (2-14). Lacan also scored 11 points.
LIBERTY 96, SKY 95
CHICAGO (AP) — Sabrina Ionescu hit the winning layup with 10 seconds remaining, Jonquel Jones scored 19 points and New York beat Chicago in Commissioner’s Cup play.
Ionescu subbed back onto the floor with 15.6 seconds remaining, caught the ball and drove to the basket before finishing with her left hand to seal the Liberty’s eighth-straight win. She finished the night with 10 points.
Jones hauled in eight rebounds and finished 6 for 9 from the field. Breanna Stewart and Satou Sabally each scored 17 points, and Rebekah Gardner added 10 off the bench.
Rookie Sydney Taylor scored 24 points in her first career start, hitting 57% from downtown, for the Sky. Olivia Miles is the only rookie with more 20-point games this season. Gabriela Jaquez, also a rookie, added a season-high 22 points for Chicago.
The Liberty clinched a perfect Commissioner’s Cup record versus the East with the win.
VALKYRIES 91, WINGS 80
SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — Gabby Williams scored 25 points, Kaitlyn Chen came off the bench to score 15 points against former UConn teammates Paige Bueckers and Azzi Fudd, and Golden State beat Dallas.
Arike Ogunbowale scored 21 points and Jessica Shepard made all five of her first-quarter shots on the way to 14 points to go with 10 rebounds for Dallas. Bueckers and first-year guard Fudd had tough shooting nights, Bueckers going 5 of 13 for 15 points with eight assists and Fudd 4 of 13 with 10 points.
Veronica Burton and Bueckers collided and went down hard going for a loose ball with 58.1 seconds left but were able to stand.
Burton added 11 points, eight rebounds and five assists in the Valkyries’ fourth straight victory and Kayla Thornton had 11 rebounds. Janelle Salaun contributed 12 points and Tiffany Hayes 10 in a 43-point bench performance for Golden State, which got 30 points from the reserves in a 78-58 victory over Los Angeles on Monday night.

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Olivia Miles set a WNBA rookie record with 24 first-half points on her way to a career-high 31 and Minnesota beat Los Angeles.
Miles, the No. 2 overall pick, was 12 of 15 from the field.
Natasha Howard had 15 points and nine rebounds, Kayla McBride scored 14 points and Courtney Williams added 13 points and five assists for the Lynx (12-3), who have won 10 of their last 11. Nia Coffey had a career-high five steals.
Rae Burrell led the Sparks (7-8) with 19 points. Rookie Jihyun Park, who went into the game with six points this season, had 13. Dearica Hamby had 12 points and nine rebounds, and Nneka Ogwumike added 10 points and eight rebounds.
Los Angeles star Kelsey Plum, who averages 25 points, did not play due to a leg injury.

PHOENIX (AP) — A’ja Wilson had 33 points and 11 rebounds Wednesday night, and Las Vegas beat Phoenix in a rematch of the 2025 WNBA Finals to clinch a spot in the Commissioner’s Cup championship.
The Aces (11-4), who lost 96-66 at Dallas on Monday to snap their six-game winning streak, play June 30 at New York for the Commissioner’s Cup title.
NaLyssa Smith scored 21 points and Jackie Young added 20 points and nine assists for Las Vegas, the defending WNBA champion.
Young had a career-high five steals and Wilson added four as the Aces finished with 18 — tied with Toronto for the most in a WNBA game this season.
Kahleah Copper scored 26 points and Alyssa Thomas had 11 assists to go with 10 points for the Mercury (4-11).
Phoenix has lost four in a row.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — Bridget Carleton had a career-high seven pointers and scored 24 points, Carla Leite added 20 points and expansion Portland beat Seattle in Commissioner’s Cup play.
Leite also had 10 assists. Sarah Ashlee Barker added 12 points, and Karlie Samuelson scored 10 off the bench for Portland (8-9).
Dominique Malonga had a career-high 28 points and 11 rebounds for the Storm (3-13).
