The immortal Earl Boykins once again has found himself NBA employment, this time in Houston. Reports the Chronicle: “Just 45 minutes before Monday’s tip against the Sacramento Kings, Earl Boykins made his way around the locker room to introduce himself to Rockets players that had just become his teammates. Though there was little chance he could be confused for anyone else, it seemed like a good move with the Rockets expected to play him in the game about to begin. The Rockets signed Boykins, a 12-year NBA veteran and at 5-foot-5 the shortest player in Rockets history, to a 10-day contract late Monday afternoon to help fill the void left by the absence of guards Kyle Lowry and Kevin Martin. ‘It’s been a very, very busy day,’ Boykins said. ‘I’m looking forward to the opportunity to come in and help this team in whatever ways possible. I just want to play steady, go in there, play consistent and bring leadership while I’m on the floor.’ In 57 games with the Bucks last season, Boykins averaged 7.2 points and 2.5 assists. He has not played this season, but said he continued to work out twice a day.”
