Colangelo on Bosh’s Future

The Raptors GM knows he’s got a tough summer job ahead of him: “Colangelo left the door open when it came to the possibility of trading all-star forward Bosh, who will be a free agent in the summer of 2010 and so far has been vague about his long-term intentions. Colangelo said he plans to meet with Bosh and his agent, Henry Thomas, in the off-season and discuss a three-year extension to his contract. But Colangelo said it was unlikely that Bosh would commit to the Raptors. ‘Well, clearly, you want to hear him say, ‘I’m here long-term, don’t worry about me, I’m not going anywhere, let’s take that blood oath together.’ Colangelo said. ‘That’s not going to happen. I think Chris has pretty much made it clear that that’s not going to happen at any point in the near future.’ Colangelo said he was willing to deal. ‘If it’s there, and there’s an opportunity to gain that certainty and improve your basketball team, obviously, then you make a move,’ he said. ‘[But] there will not be a deal made just to make a deal. There will not be any sense of panic on the part of this organization to make a bad move just to make a deal.'”
