We know how to pick ‘em

Tyreke Evans, SLAM Diary keeper and McDonald’s MVP

Just wanted to give a quick shout to our man Tyreke Evans. Not that we needed any further confirmation of how good our ‘07-08 Basketball Diary writer is, but last night in Milwaukee, he copped MVP honors at the annual McDonald’s All-American Game. Nice work, dude.

Reke’s had a crazy year, on and off the court, and he still hasn’t made his college choice (though that should be coming within the next month). Regardless, we’re glad he was able to shine one last time on the high school stage — well, at least until the Jordan Game next month, when he might just do it again.

Oh, and if anyone can find a picture of Brandon Jennings’ haircut from last night, do let me know. From what I hear, it’s 2 hype.

When I saw the high top fade on Sportscenter this morning, I laughed my ass off.

Brandon was dope—hair and passing—and Tyreke got his as always. We’re good, for sure. Glad you mentioned this game because Aggrey may be too busy hanging with cheerleaders (http://slamonline.com/online/2008/03/donna-the-honeybee/) to comment on high school ball.

  • Eboy Posted: Mar.27 at 10:23 am
    Ben has his priorities right.

  • Eboy Posted: Mar.27 at 10:24 am
Actually, when Brandon through the underhanded alleyoop that made all the highlights, he looked like rookie year Gary Payton including the hair.

  • Eboy Posted: Mar.27 at 10:25 am
    *threw

  • BETCATS Posted: Mar.27 at 10:25 am
Starbury was a good choice too Ryan

  • BETCATS Posted: Mar.27 at 10:26 am
anyone see Brandon Jennings last night, that haircut looks like he is a flavor flav love child

  • Ryan Jones Posted: Mar.27 at 10:37 am
Benoit: I’m lazy. Thanks for the find.
BET: You’re right, Starbury was a great choice. One of the best prep players in NYC history. Thanks for noticing.

  • BETCATS Posted: Mar.27 at 10:47 am
Yeah Ryan, people just hate on him because he is different. People hate what they cannot understand. Starbury is a victim of the media, at least SLAM is cool with him

  • TADOne Posted: Mar.27 at 10:58 am
Brandon Jennings is going to fill Bayless’s shoes quite nicely at Arizona.

  • Ryan Jones Posted: Mar.27 at 11:08 am
BET, you sh*tbag, I’m under the impression we’re discussing the quality of our Diary keepers. Stephon Marbury was an AMAZING high school player who played one very impressive season of college ball and had, statistically, a pretty amazing NBA career for eight or nine years. I and others on this site who had previously defended Steph have since acknowledged that, at this point, he is largely indefensible … none of which has ANYTHING to do with how and why he was chosen to do a Slam diary as a high school senior in 1994.
Thank you for reminding me how stupid you are.

  • Ryan Jones Posted: Mar.27 at 11:08 am
    That felt good.

  • Eboy Posted: Mar.27 at 11:13 am
Sh*tbag is so 6th grade, Jones.

  • TADOne Posted: Mar.27 at 11:17 am
Now his students are wondering why he has a sh*t grin on his face.

  • Ryan Jones Posted: Mar.27 at 11:18 am
    Sh*tbag is timeless, eboy.

I know where Reke is going, but I ain’t tellin ;)

  • Ryan Jones Posted: Mar.27 at 11:49 am
He’s going to college, Mike. Everyone knows that.

  • Michael Tillery Posted: Mar.27 at 11:57 am
    Do they really?

  • TADOne Posted: Mar.27 at 11:57 am

  • arthur Posted: Mar.27 at 2:03 pm
I still think Adebayor’s hair takes some beating.

  • Ryan Jones Posted: Mar.27 at 2:15 pm
    Yeah, Eduardo’s leg, too…

  • Allenp Posted: Mar.27 at 2:36 pm
I still like Steph’s crazy @ss. Cause he is crazy, but he used to be really nice at basketball.

  • jbn74sb Posted: Mar.27 at 3:49 pm
That attack of BETCATS seemed a little unnecessary, Jones. You been hanging with Mr. Sunshine, aka Kareem?

  • Ryan Jones Posted: Mar.27 at 3:49 pm
    F*ckin’ f*ck you, Bodie. You f*ck.
    Nah, I’m good.

[...] Hopefully you saw it, but if you didn’t know (or catch Ryan’s post), the McDonald’s All-American Game took place Wednesday night. The East beat the West, 107-102 (the game was actually somewhat competitive for once), but I’m here for my “expert analysis,” not a game recap. Here are the players, in my opinion, that stood out: [...]
