Opening Day: Nike Town L.A.

Meet a 5-Time MLB all star and cop some lmtd. ed. retro 1’s.

By Konate Primus

To all my folks out there on the west coast I have some pretty exciting news for you guys. Andruw Jones, the newest addition to the LA Dodgers family and Team Jordan athlete, will be at the Beverly Hills Niketown meeting and greeting fans and more interestingly showing off the great baseball-inspired Air Jordan retro 1. Paying tribute to his baseball playing days, Jordan Brand developed a limited edition Air Jordan Retro 1 two-sneaker collection featuring two black and white colorways that reflect Jordan’s old uniform complete with pinstripe details, baseball stitching seams at the toebox and ankle, and an embroidered crest with MJ’s final baseball stats. “Not Impressive.”

These are kind of like “ehhh… oh these are cool” they aren’t extremely impressive but they aren’t disappointing either. I like them; I’d drop a solid 100 bucks on ‘em but anymore is just not a good deal. Especially considering the pinstripe phase has come on gone for this decade (sporting jerseys aside) but meeting Andruw Jones should be fun. He must be interesting - he is the only person that spells Andruw with a “U.” Weirdo!

The Opening Day Collection is scheduled for nationwide limited-edition release on Saturday, March, 29th. While the City of angels welcomes their newest 5- time all-star from 11:45 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. NIKETOWN Los Angeles, 9560 Wilshire Blvd. (Wilshire & Rodeo) Beverly Hills, California 90212 and will retail for $100 per pair. Be there or be … not there?

will these shoes be able to support a 270 pound man? Cause that’s what andrUw is looking like these days.

Being a Dodger fan, my only beef is that the colors don’t rep the Dodgers at all. L.A.’s Shannon Booher (of Line of the Night/Line of the Month fame) will be covering the event Saturday and will have a report for us Monday…

Shout out to store manager Shane, dude’s hella cool and has the biggest sneaker collection I’ve ever heard of. Ask him about it.

I think those are the Jenny Craig colorways.

I think Jordans fell off LONG ago…

the color aspect is a lil wierd because the shoe looks Blue and white instead of black and white whichmakes more sense since MJ was a white sock!

Turns out these pics are a little deceiving… the black is, um, blacker, live in person. I definitely liked them more in person than from the photos. The coloring and pinstripes makes more sense now too — they were inspired by Jordan’s baseball uniform. Stay tuned for the full report…
