White Chocolate Retires

by Ryne Nelson

Jason Williams’ career came to an abrupt end this afternoon. The dude who brought the elbow pass to the national scene signed a contract with the Clippers just last month.

From the NBA press release:

Los Angeles Clippers point guard Jason Williams announced his retirement from the NBA today, ending his 10-year career.

JWill had his best statistical season seven years ago when he averaged 15 and 8 for Memphis. His $1.26 million salary won’t save the Clippers significant money…not even enough to sign one Stephon Marbury should the Knicks buyout his contract.

Jason Hart will likely play the full eight minutes of breather time for Baron Davis this season.

While JWill never could escape nagging injuries throughout his career and never made an All-Star squad, he was one of most innovative open-court point guards the League has ever seen. At least he got his ring.
