Trade: Jason Hart for Brevin Knight

by Marcel Mutoni

Folks, it’s late July, and thus, this gets its own post. That’s just the way it goes.

The Clippers and Jazz, in an effort to apparently change nothing at all, swapped mediocre point guards. Jason Hart is going to Los Angeles, and Brevin Knight is off to Utah.

Clipper fans should be particularly excited; check out Mr. Hart’s parting words as he made his way out of Salt Lake City. From the hometown paper.

How many players, after all, would personally apologize to their general manager for not living up to the contract they signed on their way out of town?

Hart did just that, telling Jazz general manager Kevin O’Connor that he was sorry for “not being able to play up to my capabilities.” Talking about signing Hart, O’Connor said: “Do you wish it turned out better? Obviously. And so does he.”

It sounds like we have all of the makings of yet another magical season in Clipperville!

They both will be sitting on each others respective seats wearing each others respective warmups… respectivly getting each others garbage/breather minutes.

That is the most worthless trade in basketball history

Brevin Knight is probably crying right now at the phrase ‘mediocre point guard’.

Michael says:
brevin knight aint that bad, will be a fairly handy back up to deron

Jul.24 at 1:29 pm

Gerard Himself says:
If anything, Knighjt is a capable defender and can throw a pass. Like Michael said, a good back up for Deron.

Jul.24 at 1:36 pm

Pro says:
But when you back up a guy like Deron, does it matter how good you are? Its garbage minutes from here on out…

Jul.24 at 1:48 pm

Gerard Himself says:
yeah you might be right. But as a Nets fan, watching Kidd play all those minutes without a backup was sometimes frustrating. Even in Kidd’s better days, (’01, ‘02), when he went out, the team lost its direction and sometimes even lost their lead.

Jul.24 at 1:50 pm

Gerard Himself says:
all that because the Nets never had a decent backup (well, Anthony Johnson was okay)

I actually liked Jason Hart, as a backup, with the Clippers a couple years ago. Seems like a good guy.

It was a good move by Utah for the mere fact that they are saving money on knights contract.

Good. Dude was buns. How you gonna get your minutes cut by a guy from UVSC? Ronnie Price is leaps and bounds better than Hart

I actually think that Brevin is not that bad. He should have never been a starter in the L tho. Can’t shoot, can’t create off the bounce. He’ll run the offense at the end of the 1st and the 3rd…

Jul.24 at 5:14 pm

ciolkstar says:
Brevin wasn’t that bad in 2003! An undersized 37 year old point guard is just what they need. Hart played pretty well in his year here in SA, if I were him i’d be thrilled about leaving Utah, for Clipperville (where he still won’t get any minutes though)

This trade is pointless. Knight is going to get the same amount of pt that hart got, none! Price is the backup to deron. Hart is not going to play that much on the clippers. If this trade was not reported, then I don’t think I ever would have noticed.
