With a year remaining on his current deal, CP3 is expected to sign for big-money to stay in New Orleans for a little while longer.

Deron needs to get maxed out ASAP too, but can the Jazz afford to do that without getting rid of someone first?

Michael says:
duncan is a max player in the sense of how valuable he is, but i think he took a deal below the max if i remember correctly

Hursty says:
Hes not EARNING the max. He IS a max player though Izzo. Just not in monetary earnings.

Mo Charlo says:
Duncan took the hit and signed for less than the max (although not much less) so that the Holt family could afford to pay other players. Result? Ring.

Eboy says:
Hursty, I actually meant my no sh*t directed at the re-signing not at your max comment, sorry.

TADOne says:
Lets see; The Jazz have Okur, Boozer, and AK47 making at least 10 mil a season, so i’m quite sure one of them would need to go so Deron can get his. And yes, it needs to happen.

Hursty says:
@ E, meh, water off a ducks back. I thought it was just your usual satire at work, trying to channel your inner Jones or something.

Hursty says:
Isnt AK on a max contract? or very close to it? 17 or so I think….

Jul.2 at 10:51 am

Russ Bengtson says:
AK is maxed, correct. I suppose their decision could be made for them if Booz opts out, but then again Booz and Deron are tight, so maybe that affects their ability to re-sign Deron. I presume they’d prefer to trade Drei, but given his production and his salary, that might be difficult.

Forgewt about Drei

Hursty says:
just get a bunch of players that fit the cap and expiring contracts and dont sign any of em e.g the memphis experiment.

Jul.2 at 11:08 am

Squirrel7 says:
Haha @ Gerard. Has a player’s value ever dropped as rapidly as AK47’s over the last couple of years?! It’s not like he’s in decline because of age, or anything like that.

celtics=champs says:
Good move, Nawlins the Hornets don’t have the best players but with CP3 he makes every player better, takes them to the next level. He knows just when to give his teammates the rock. Without him that team is NOTHING!! I see Chris in New Orleans for a while. CP3 should be 2009 MVP.
