That is not true. These allegations are being made public because the NBa asked the court to force Timmy to pay $1 million for their internal investigation. His response was to prove that the investigation should not have been all about him.

I feel like Stern’s credibility has been fatally compromised, and he should step down this summer. He won’t, of course. And in the long run, the League will suffer for it.

the foul discrepancy for the home team (+ 7 lakers) in that game 6 was the same for the first two games for boston in the current finals.
Sacramento lost that game when doug christie literally crapped his pants sometime in the late 4th quarter and proceeded to miss the rim on several wide open jumpers (or maybe that was game 7).

I don’t believe Stern’s credibility is stained. it all falls back on the refs, but come on. they are guys who wear ridiculous t-shirts forced to discipline egomaniac divas who get paid millions just to play ball. obviously ther will always be some refs trying to get a piece of the cake. no matter who the CEO of the league is.

Anyone that thinks games haven’t been compromised in the past by the heavyhandedness of shady officiating are either completley ignorant or Lakers fans. Seriously. Well, not about the Lakers fans. This has been an ongoing issue for the last 18 years or so. It will continue until the Sternbot shuts down for the last time. He has marketed the league incredibly well and turned it into a conglomerate of epic proportions but part of that development relied on the marketing of certain players and teams and because of it, certain “liberties” needed to be taken to allow it. This is not a conspiracy theory, this is a certainty.

well said Eboy..oh and about the comment that there was the same difference in foul shots then as there was in the first two games of this series, the refs made up for that last night..wow. apparently all the celts have to do is complain now and they will get everything called in their favor next game.

Benoit, if the NBA follows the lead of the NFL and get a new commisoner that has a “take no sh*t” attitide, I think it could change. The league is bigger than Stern, any player and any shady official. It can be changed.

Until they start officiating Superstars and role players the same then people are always going to have doubts. It also wouldn’t hurt if they didn’t let the venue dictate which team is going to get those benefit of doubt calls.

Was 6 years ago the most recent event he could give? Is it only Laker bias- of course not dont let it become a laker issue.
Jun.11 at 12:43 pm
Pat says:
Since the biased officiating really is so obvious, to the point where the people calling the game routinely recognize it “”oh, so and so isn’t going to get that call with Kobe on him” etc.) maybe we can start treating it as another genuine facet of the game, to be discussed about in pregame shows and even create stats for it. “Rondo put the ball in the basket 5 actual times, but after factoring in the he’s-a-nobody bias, we tacked on 3 extra baskets, one of them was even the game winning points”. “Boy, Boston sure has an uphill battle tonight, not only is Pierce’s knee still sore, but they had the audacity to go up 2-0 and Phil sure was explicit about his team not getting enough calls, the “zebra-factor” is certainly poised to disrupt Boston’s rhythm tonight”.

@Eboy - David Stern has tried to go the take no s**t attitude (dress code, age limit, etc), and like Roger Goddell, its only about getting the players to “act right” and not the game itself, which in the end comes off as hypocritical in both Stern and Goddell’s cases - Stern in this case and the flopathon that engulfs the league, and Goddell in the way he handled the Spygate situation where for some reason Bill Belicheck has not been suspended. Also, as a league the NBA’s success is more dependent on it’s big market and high profile teams succeeding than the NFL or MLB is - the NBA’s history and legacy doesn’t resonate with people the way those other sports do, plus in a lot of ways it is still “too Black” for mainstream America to take it into its hearts as a “mom and apple pie” way. He Got Game will never be as beloved a movie as Hoosiers. When Stern took over as commissioner a lot of people openly said that the league was too Black to succeed.
Jun.11 at 1:49 pm
Eboy says:
I don’t think Stern’s approach to the dress code, age limit, etc. was a way of putting out a “take no sh*t attitude” thesam, it was his way of trying to “control” the actions of a few that were going against his preconceived look he wanted the league to uphold. It’s wrong to a point, but it’s not addressing what may yet turn out to be the worst thing to ever happen to the L.
Jun.11 at 2:20 pm
thasam says:
@Eboy - My point was that Goddell’s actions weren’t different from Stern’s in that he wanted to protect the leagues image by controlling his players even if it meant not waiting for a court of law to decide (Pacman Jones), but when presented with something that could seriously threaten the league that had nothing to do with player conduct, both men failed to adress it with the same force and both allowed those issues to linger much longer than they should have.
