Yeah, his offense is not up there with his defense yet. But he still averaged 16-17 points a game, on hustle, finishing around the rim, and offensive rebounds. He showed glimpses of improving his shoot and even stroked some 3’s. He’s improved every summer, and I’m sure he will continue in that direction. Besides it’s the East, how many forwards are actually better right now?

If he and Horford keep getting better every year, they’ll have one of the best frontcourts in the East, maybe even in the L. For everyone who thinks 11 is too much for Josh what’s their alternative? Who is available that replaces his production? I’m not sure about that B.Long..The thing is as much as Smoove is an athletic specimen he is woefully short of being even a passable shooter and secondly(and much worse IMO) I don’t quite quite think he’ll grasp the Tri Offense.Ever.Defensively he’s a bit like Camby.Puts up great stats and mindblowing blocks but makes egregious errors on D.

Smith isn’t worth the max, but he’s definitely worth keeping. He is not a complete player (his defense consists of weak side blocks) and his shot selection can be sketchy, but you could say that about most young players in the League. Hawks still need a capable PG & a defensive vet in the frontcourt if they want to remain in the playoff hunt.
