Larry Bird Won’t Feed Into J.O. Trade Talk

“We have talked to a number of teams, but to speculate on trades right now, obviously we’re getting close to the draft right now,” Bird said. “There are a lot of things we’re doing; it’s all speculation right now.”

J.O. must be traded. The Pacers are going nowhere with that dude.

Chou says:
They need to push through with the Raps deal. That could be their only way to get rid of JO’s contract.

Raps (Hopefully ) won’t bite though. Raps need help… just not JO.

I vote for Danny Granger for Joey Graham, to rectify the drafting mistakes of the past.

Is it me, or anybody with the name O’neal on the back of their jerseys has been irrelevant since ‘06.

Jackie Moon says:
J.O for O.J. would be the most palindromic trade ever, until the day the Lakers trade for Ebok.

Jakie, did you mean Eboy? Cause that would be a horrible trade for the Lakers.

LOL…raptors just got ROBBED!!! Larry Bird, he’s been taking fools and their money for years!! Raptors don’t have a pick in an otherwise solid draft year! 10th and 17th thats some solid selections for the Pacers this year…they got a PG that, barring his neck problems can take over from Jamaal. Send Jamaal over to SUNS for Boris Diaw!!

It’s insanely ballsy, but I’m in favour of the J.O. trade from a Raps Perspective and here is my reasoning:
1)Your trading for a player who carries a risk of injuries while trading away a player who carries a risk of injuries (plus Rasho’s expiring contract)
2)A year from now the Raptors have a massive expiring contract to use as trade bait, provided the Jermaine era doesn’t work out
3)The TJ/Jose situation has finally come to the point where a change NEEDS to be made. I love TJ, but its pretty clear Jose is the long term point guard
4)Raps need defence, toughness and rebounding…they’re not going to get that from Boris Diaw
5)If Andrea finally turns the corner, or J.O.’s knees give out, it’s only for 1 year

what says:
I don’t get it… how is this NOT a good trade for the Raptors? They give up an injury prone backup point guard and an interchangeable big guy for an injury prone All-Star-when-healthy FC who has one year less on his contract. Yeah it kinda sucks that they give up the draft pick, but a big three of Calderon, Bosh and JO when healthy is an elite team in the East. Meanwhile the Pacers now have two inconsistent injury prone PGs instead of one and add more mediocre white big guys to their already sizable collection. What am I missing here? Worst case scenario JO doesn’t work out and the Raptors dangle his expiring contract to every team in the league in February 2010. This is a great trade for Toronto.
