Dirtybird says:
I guesss the Hawks needs more wins Tadone and he’ll get more votes.

BETCATS says:
What about Gerald Wallace and Josh Smith? Emeka Okafor? Al Jefferson plays good D.

WhaHuh says:

Predictable… boring… Duncan is a good system defender, but not a great individual one. He could not guard guys like Dwight, and Amare 1 on 1. He feeds of smart players on his team. Still not easy to do, but 1. team?

Gerard Himself says:
solito: the same thing can be said about Camby, but I still believe that they belong on the 1st team. It’s all about timing, knowing when to leave your man to provide some help defense, grabning boards, swatting some shots. It wouldn’t surprise me if CP3 will be on the first team next season though.

As we talk about nominies - yesterday I bought “basket” an european NBA-Magazine. I found a table with the stats of every player in the league and started checking the stats of the MVP Canditates. Paul and James had much better stats than kobe - I mean whats up. You wanna tell me bryant is more important to his team than paul or james??? I mean hes got two allsars in the starting five and a deeeep bank as well. Its not about whos is the most valuable player its about the money… Can’t pass the Kobe-hype right now… I guess the Valuable in MVP means who is most valuable to the league in terms of bringin in money… peace

Rasheedionics says:
Lakers had the best record in Western Conference. So that was the tie breaker for MVP over Paul and Lebron.

Nguni says:
battier deserved it more than bowen.

rikson says:
I understand that they had the best record, but wasn new orleans on top for some time too. (Lakers also traded for gasol before getting the best record - I mean hes an allstar!!!) I dont know exactly but I bet it was longer than the lakers had the topspot. In addition - nobody expected new orleansto be that good.
Im just saying…

Froggiestyle says:
Bowen is so played out already. Shouldn’t he have opened up a Tex-Mex restaurant / putt-putt golf course by now?
May.13 at 12:14 pm
Gerard Himself says:
Rikson: yes they added Pau Gasol, so what? The lost Mountain Drew before that. I’m not sure what you’re trying to say with that, but it wasn’t like CP3 was all by himself too when it comes to All-Stars, right? David West, former all-star Peja Stojakovic…… If Paul would’ve won it, that would fine too, but Kobe Bryant to me is one step above the rest of the League. It’s not only about stats, and when you watch him play, he HAD to get it.

nothin personal says:
I can’t believe Chris Paul and DHo didn’t make the First team. You could make a good case for both of them actually winning DPOY. I can’t believe that 14.2rpg, 2.2 bpg and 0.9spg can be discounted like that. As for Paul, he led the league with 2.7 steals per. That alone should have been enough.
Plus, they should ban every SA player from winning individual awards. They usually cop a team award at the finale.
May.13 at 12:15 pm
RV says:
don’t the same group vote for all defensive teams and DPOY? i don’t get how a guy who finished 3rd in the DPOY gets on the second team
May.13 at 12:29 pm
Kadavour says:
The All Defensive Team isn’t about stats. I think it’s more about who can LOCK down his man AND help on defense. Camby and Duncan are the only suspect dudes on that squad, i feel that Duncan is a product of San Antonio’s system, and Camby just roams (Bynum gave him BUCKETS). Josh Smith probably didn’t make it because he’s MORE OF a helper than a lock down guy.

tenorca says:
Not one vote for Stephen Jackson makes me sad. And we need to retire Bowen from the first team. He’s fallen off significantly.
May.13 at 12:49 pm
WhaHuh says:
rikson in typical european style is arguing with two weeks ago.
May.13 at 1:21 pm
solly what says:
Bowen has fallen off? It is well known that EVERY player fears him guarding them the most. Stick him on anyone during a series and they are shut down. Have you ever even WATCHED him play? He’s the best defender. ever.
May.13 at 2:31 pm
RV says:
EVER? you’re kidding right…
May.13 at 2:59 pm
Kadavour says:
Better than Ron Artest of the Pacers? Hardly. What about Derek Harper in his hey?
May.13 at 3:37 pm
RV says:
there’s a lot of variables when it comes to who’s the greatest defender, a centeris always at a disadvantage because they often have to help out, so even the best ones arent known as “lockdown defenders”, you also have guys like artest who’d get more recognition if they kept their head in the game at all times, and Kobe would be even better if he didn’t spend so much energy on offense, all that being said, Bowen conserves a lot of energy on offense and is mostly a one on one defender on the perimeter, he’s a good one, but there’s others who are better all around defenders with less questionable tactics.

Ed O'Brien says:
I can’t believe what I just saw on basketball-reference.com. Shawn Bradley has never been on any all-defensive nba team. It was always D-kembe Mutombo, or Zo Mourning or Hakeem or others.
May.13 at 4:06 pm
RV says:
why would he be?
May.13 at 6:31 pm
K-k-k-kobe says:
BETCATS you just lost all credibility when you claimed “Al Jefferson plays good D”.

Bubba Chuck says:
MARCUS CAMBY!
May.13 at 8:05 pm
B. Long says:
Marcus Camby’s D just looks great because no one else on his team plays any.
May.13 at 8:08 pm
davidR says:
shane > bowen

Bubba Chuck says:
@ B. Long: 2007 Defensive Player of the Year?
May.13 at 8:23 pm
B. Long says:
@Bubba Chunk: Yeah, and Dirk was the MVP last year too.

rikson says:
All Im saying is nobody talked about west before Paul came, and Peja wasnt playin that well too (several injuries) until… you know CP3. It might be because im from europe and cant watch all games…but shouldnt a PG who makes an average team to a title contenter be the MVP. Im just adding NO - SA(!!!) 3-2/ LAL - UTAH 2-2
Im just annoyed because it seems that every year the most popular nominee gets the MVP. I mean NO had the fewest national broadcasted games so (to me) it was clear CP3 couldnt win it.
But thats just the way USA works, so I dont wonder why you dont realize it… think about it!

i hate all the ‘can’t believe they haven’t won it already awards’ this season. kg is not the best defensive player in the league and kobe bryant wasn’t the most valueble player this season.

rikson says:
thanks youngmuggsy - finally some true words…
