Worthy of Your Attention
Paul Pierce says that, heading into Game 5, the Detroit Pistons have the edge. And he’s right. In this ugly-as-hell series, momentum has shifted from one team to the next from game to game. Trust me, it’s not as exciting as it sounds.
Though Detroit may have “the edge”, it is the Celtics who are favored tonight. They have been nearly invincible at home during the postseason (and all year really), and all of the pressure will be on them this evening.
(And it wouldn’t shock me in the least if they dusted off some of their old homecourt-advantage tricks to get back at their foes.)
KG knows his team needs to regain their defensive dominance, and he has plenty to be motivated about after Jason Maxiell’s monster block in Game Four.
For the Pistons to win another one in Boston, their version of The Big Three must come through in a big way. That’s right, Rasheed, I’m looking at you. Feel free to show up in this series, big guy. Seriously, it’s not too late.

Sheed actually played well in game 4, but McDyess just played exceptional in that game.

There are no big threes of any kind in this series.

I hope so Riggs. I’m not entirely sure what Dice even did last night. I guess I should be asking how you know?

I hope Doc does a better job substituting his players. E. House should play more minutes than Sam-I-Am. Leon Poe should play more minutes than Big Baby.

TADOne says:
Agree and agree, silky. Of course, this means Doc will play Sam 30+ minutes and Powe won’t get out of his warmups.

KG & Pierce have had big nights & been good to great thoughout the playoffs. Ray’s shooting is the mystery. Yes, he’s been asked to play more D than ever, but he should be able to drop 20 pts on an off night…

Unless you’re a Pistons or Celtics fan, this series is completely unwatchable. I’m huge basketball and I didn’t miss a single game this post-season until this series. It reminds me of the Spurs-Pistons finals in 2005. I watch these games at the beginning but always fall asleep through out the game despite having Mark Jackson and JVG announcing the games.

The Celtics won’t win this series unless Garnett goes to work down low. KG has taken 68 shots in the Eastern Conference Finals. How many of those shots have taken place in the paint? Anyone? Anyone?

This is not an ugly series. This is tough, hard-nosed basketball with plenty of great defense against to titans. This series redeems the Eastern conference (vis-a-vis the Western conference).

aesthetically its not much to watch…but as true bball fan I love hard-nosed grind it out appeal that this series has. It looks like 2 of my uncles fightin over the last piece of chicken

What if McDyess hits a trey from the corner Russ??? That would be a pretty big three.

Don’t you just love it when your C/PF scores nothing but three-pointers? Free throws, in-the-paint buckets, hell not even a top of the key J!

Forget big three….Celts had the “Big One” from Kendrick Perkins. Monster game boi. Jesus Shuttlesworth was on fire tonight too.

Dang, that was hard to watch. Rebounding and bad decisions down the stretch. Stuck, you miss those foul shots by not aiming straight. Lotta love still, the future is in good hands. KG, I hate you for not calling glass. I didn’t think the Pistons would get back this time, but they never quit. Horrible officiating again btw, but at least it was somewhat balanced… If this series doesn’t go the distance I’ll be very surprised.

Wait, Ray Allen is on the Celtics? When did this happen?
May.29 at 12:17 am
Tuomas says:
Sadly, it happened. Oh, there was also a Cassell sighting. Woulda liked to see more of that, for obvious reasons. Playoffs are fun, some guys disappear, some (like Hunter) remind us why they have a job.

As a Boston fan, Hunter scares me. That guy is still so good. As soon as I noticed that Sam was in I got worried and then Hunter promptly stole the ball and set up that ally-oop. Jesus had a great game but every time he gets doubled and puts the ball behind his back, it’s a turn over waiting to happen. Those C’s cross-court lob passes are killing me. C’s will close it out next game.
