Worthy of Your Attention

by Marcel Mutoni

With the way things have gone so far in these Playoffs, we might as well just skip tonight’s festivities and move right on along to Game Seven. But there’s a reason they play the games, and we watch. You just never know.

Boston @ Cleveland, Game 6
: They may have the homecourt advantage, and they may have LeBron on their side, and they may be going up against a team that can’t handle playing on the road in the postseason; but without Boobie Gibson, the odds aren’t in the Cavs’ favor tonight.

Now, I like my superstar athletes to have confidence (even a bit of arrogance never hurts), but I couldn’t help chuckling after reading the following quote from Bron-Bron following the Game Five loss:

“A LeBron James team is never desperate.”

What, are the other LeBrons showing up on the court with you now, Mr. James? Actually, that might not be such a bad idea.

Lakers @ Jazz, Game 6: The games in this series have been competitive and entertaining, but both teams have done what they were supposed to do: Hold serve on their home floor.

It’s the broken record theme of these Playoffs. But someone has to blink at some point. They gotta. Please?

G Diesel says:
Mr Mutoni, I suggest you stop giving Boobie too much importance. The guy might hit a clutch three here and there, but that’s about it. On the defence end, he couldn’t even guard Rosie O’Donnell.

Was King James referring to the LeBron’s? Kid LeBron, Business LeBron, and Wise LeBron. He’s going to need the LeBron’s to get by Boston in game 7!

vtrobot says:
boston breaks the trend and wins tonight. what the eff have they been doing against the hawks and cavs??? this is the same team that that swept through the texas triangle for the first time in seven years. hopefully elphantitis sits and eddie house lights it up some. plus if ray finally start hitting shots too, i think it will be done.

May.16 at 4:05 pm

Silky Slim says:
MJ’s teammates were called the Jordannaires. We can call King James’ teammates the LeBron’s! King James and the LeBron’s!

Stick a fork in Utah and their fans battery tossing ways, they’re done after a classic Kobe demasculation in front of the home crowd tonight! This is the most excited I’ve been about a game in a long, long time.

tealish says:
It’d be nice if just the one LeBron actually showed up. Quite a statement from him, especially with the way he’s been playing. Ray Allen’s has also got to get it going if they hope to beat the Pistons. Ya, I’ve counted out the Cavs already even if they DO win tonight.

If Lebron chokes tonight, Ryan Jones will too.

May.16 at 6:35 pm

Brado says:
Boston will win……is anybody else sick of hearing Lebron talk? I like him less and less every time he speaks. The Lakers can’t handle Utah on their homecourt. Utah will pull out the win and game 7 will be an intense, heated, and possibly bloddy battle with the hometeam taking it all.

hmmm…. the fouls seem slightly skewed in favour of the cavs, 13 fouls on the C’s (2 pierce, 3 perk, 2 jesus) vs. 5 cavs.

Russ Bengtson says:
I hate the Celtics. They don’t deserve to win anything playing like this.

May.16 at 9:58 pm

Not that the Cavaliers really deserve to win, either. The East is disgusting.

Doris Burke is giving Reggie Miller a run for his money. Reggie’s got the misspeak title on lock, but Doris is awful in her own special way.

May.16 at 11:49 pm

Sarah says:
I’m glad you said that, Russ. Did anyone else think she was smoking crack saying ray allen should have gotten the goaltend on west late in the 4th? His shot hit the side of the backboard and was obviously not going in.. is there anyway that could be a goaltend, seriously?

May.16 at 11:59 pm

FLUXLAND says:
Russ, some of us were calling for her firing in the 1st round. She sux! And you notice how she love the camera? She has to try hard not to stare into it with that supergrin on her face
KG chokes again. 0-2 and TO in last few minutes.
Boozer 0 Karma 1.. he got his Rocket fans. Hursty and RV: I told ya he would.
I also love how Jazz fan cheer every basket scored, while down by 15, as if they just tied the game. Priceless.

May.17 at 12:31 am

RV says:
i think it just reinforces what i said about the rockets beating the jazz for sure with Yao…they don’t play D, with Yao the rockets have their offense back and the jazz don’t get out of the first round.

May.17 at 12:53 am

detroit says:
The pistons are tired of waiting…will any of these teams man up and win on the road?

May.17 at 4:03 am

street dreams says:
if rondo doesnt play well in the first 5 min. he needs to get yanked and replaced with eddie house…paul pierce needs to remember hes from inglewood and not boston and start playing better…you too jesus…i know you dont like to phil, but its ok to call timeouts when ur giving up big leads…chris paul is the new tony parker..somebody needs to flatten robert horry as an example..maybe whats affecting lebron is those ugly ass shoes hes wearing…whats more important??game 6 against kobe or your passport??..im talking to you Drago!!

May.17 at 7:36 am

WhaHuh says:
Can someone explain to me what Rondo was thinking? he took 4 shots!!, everytime he drove to the basket when he should have shot/gone to foul line he mad a dish where KG/Allen/Pierce choked the shot.

May.17 at 7:51 am

Slobodan Chutzpah says:
To be fair to Boobie, G Diesel, no one on either the Cavs or Celts could guard Rosie O’Donnell.

May.17 at 12:31 pm

The Promise says:
o well, neither of these teams are going to make it to the finals, that would be the Detroit Pistons. Why? Because they can win a game on the road. unlike these other jokes.

May.17 at 2:57 pm

Russ Bengtson says:
Last team to win it all after going the distance in the first two rounds was the ‘95 Rockets. Of course they came in as a six-seed and won both deciding games (Game Five against the Jazz and Game Seven against the Suns) on the ROAD. I don’t think anyone’s won a title after not winning a road game in the first two rounds. At least not recently.

May.17 at 7:10 pm

Young Chris #3 says:
The Celtics won’t change that trend. They’re losing tomorrow. I wanted them to win it all, but they really suck right now.

May.18 at 2:48 am

tealish says:
Flux: I thought that’s a good thing. If I’m playing on my home floor, I’d like the fans to cheer hard no matter what. (well, with less than a 25pt deficit or else it’d sound more like mockery)

May.18 at 2:49 am

tealish says:
Young Chris: Don’t worry about it, they’ll win tomorrow. They’re donning the whites, remember?
