Worthy of Your Attention
The San Antonio Spurs and New Orleans Hornets finished the regular season with identical records. And yet, should the Hornets win in San Antonio tonight, it will have to be considered a rather large upset.
Gregg Popovich, who Robert Horry says is the best coach he’s ever had, has his work cut out for him. Following Game Five, he did what any good coach would do following a crushing postseason defeat: complain about the free-throw disparity. Don’t be shocked if the Spurs are parading to the line all night long as a result.
It’s not going to be easy for the Hornets to eliminate the defending champs on their home floor, but New Orleans has gotten into the habit of doing the seemingly impossible.
And what better opportunity than this is there to prove that it is, in fact, possible to win on the road in these Playoffs?

We may see the end of the Spurs Dynasty tonite. I bet the T.V. Executives are thrilled that they wont have to market another finals with them this year. “Tim Duncan vs. Rasheed Wallace! Yaaay! I love watching bank shots and Tech fouls for a week straight!.”

What a surprise — Mavs thru think and thin hates the Spurs and Tim Duncan ? Shocker — Look Mav fan I know it is a hard life for you — let-downs - failures, 1st round exits - crazy owner.. The superstar of your team is a coward in crunch time and big games.. I know man– I feel your pain. Meanwhile - Spurnation will just enjoy the 10-years (and counting) of success we have enjoyed ! 4 rings baby — going for 5!!!

Although I hate the Spurs, I expect Tony Parker to dominate. He has became the most underrated star in the league.

G Diesel, how can you say that someone who won the finals MVP is underrated? I think the whole point of the award is to serve notice of his accomplishments.

G Diesel says:
Every time we talk about the Spurs, people start mentionning Tim Duncan or Manu Ginobili.
I bet you think about Bruce Bowen before you think of Tony Longoria Parker. We sometimes don’t realize that he has become the Spurs #1 offensive option.

I like watching the Spurs play. They’re one of very few teams that play the right way. The backcourt of Parker and Ginobili is just as exciting if not more than any other in the NBA. Anyone who says the Spurs are boring to watch has either not been watching them since 2003, doesn’t appreciate fundamentals, or is simply retarded. Yes, I said it.

Funny the people who say the Spurs are boring are usually fans of teams they beat. TP & Manu are as exciting as anyone, if they were American people would talk about them like AI & Wade. Funny thing is pro’s like Barkley, Kenny Smith, Calvin Murphy, Eddie Johnson etc love watching them. I’ll go with their opinion

i like the spurs and i’m rooting for them to win the chip this year. but even i must admit i don’t like some tactics they used this playoff. hack-a-shaq, okay i can let that go. hack-a-chandler and hack-a-ely? what happen to the supposed class of the team? and now another cheap shot from bob. damn dude. why?

RV says:
the whole time Horry was with the Rockets he was never a dirty or even really physical, you don’t see that pick from the back very often, i dont know if it was intentional/dirty, but Horry has definitely changed his play on D as an enforcer type

Sarah says:
Rob thought Manu was driving that left baseline.. as he has been known to do from time to time.. and he was just trying to give the lefty a little help. If you watch the replay, it doesn’t look like he really impacted West with much force at all. It just didn’t help that West’s back was already sensitive. Regardless, he wouldn’t have helped them win this game, and he’ll probably, hopefully, be back strong for the decisive game 7.

i hate it when injuries decide game outcomes, so here’s another well wish for david west’s speedy recovery. (btw, i think the slow mo made the back-pick impact look worse than it may be. who knows.)

RV says:
the play just didn’t seem like a natural basketball play to me, i dont know if he was trying to hurt him or not, but he was definitely trying to go the extra mile to be physical at the very least, manu had already pulled up when horry hit him, and even if horry though he was driving baseline the natural reaction is to box west out to keep him from turning the corner towards manu, not to turn towards him to bump/pick him off. The impact wasn’t too bad, but the fact that he was already hurt, didn’t see the hit coming, and it happened in mid-air made it a lot worse for him.

first of all to all the spurs haters, yall just hate the spurs cause they always beat yalls wack ass teams with yalls one big super star that makes big dunks and blocks shots but cant win a championship. i’m just here to say that i was at the game last night and i saw with my own eys how dirty paul is. the refs give him way too much credit. he pulled on and pushed tp all night and he puts his shoulder and head into defenders chest’s. i had noticed since game one what kind of player paul is. and for him to be considered an mvp canidate is a discrase to basketball and the nba. ya he makes great plays but hes one of the biggest crybabys i’ve ever seen. he kicked horry last night while he was on the ground and the refs didnt call nothing. he was a discrase in college and he continues to have the same rep… everyone cover your balls, pauls in the building
May.16 at 11:52 am
Simmy Sosa says:
Come on Marcgar, I’m a Spurs fan, and yes Paul gets away with forcing a lot of contact, but I definitely wouldn’t call him a disgrace. He’s a little guy and he has to do some of those things to get his shots off. Last night he got called on a lot of it, and hopefully refs will call him on that stuff in Game 7. As for Horry, what else was he supposed to do in that situation? He was delivering a screen and because Ginobili goes up for the shot he’s supposed to just get out of West’s way? There wasn’t even that much contact. I hope West is healthy in Game 7 so when the Spurs win people won’t make excuses.
May.16 at 12:01 pm
marcgar says:
i agree i would rather beat the hornets with west playing. and dont get me wrong paul is full of great talent but hes loses his cool too much. you obviously didnt see him kick horry last night cause they didnt show it on tv well i was there and hes been dirty since college. and theres a difference between forcing contact and throwing elbows kicking and hitting someone in the crotch.

Chris Paul does have a little John Stockton in him, and Im not talking passing either. A knee here, an elbow there. If the Hornets v Jazz happens, what do you suppose Sloan’s thugs will do to CP and West?
