Worthy of Your Attention

by Marcel Mutoni

Pistons @ Magic, Game 3: This one has all the makings of a classic Detroit letdown game. I can see it now: The Pistons, who have been in control of the series, arrogantly strut into Dwight’s house, give a half-assed effort, and let the Magic win a game. Afterwards, Rasheed dismisses the loss in typical ‘Sheed fashion, and everyone has a good laugh because, well, this is what Detroit does.

The Magic have plenty of motivation going into tonight’s battle; for one, they’re fighting for their postseason lives, and they know that the League certainly won’t be doing them any favors on close calls.

Jazz @ Lakers, Game 2
: Kobe will be presented with the MVP trophy tonight in front of the home crowd, and that should make for a great scene. It should also give the Lakers an emotional boost to start off the game.

Over on the Utah side, the Jazz will try to dominate the glass again, while hoping that shots for Carlos Boozer and Deron Williams will fall. Of course, all of that might not be enough to steal a game in L.A., but it’s generally never a good idea to take a Jerry Sloan-led squad lightly.

I will be watching the Lakers game with Lebrons bells on, the 15 pound bells holding him down the other night.

Detroit by 5.

Hey TAD, Orlando by 17

B. Long says:
Kobe get’s 50 tonite… or a triple double. Bet on it. What position could the Lakers possibly be looking for help from in the offseason. I honestly can’t think of one.

May.7 at 3:44 pm

TADOne says:
James: Doubt that. B. Long- a new knee for Bynum.

May.7 at 3:46 pm

James the balla says:
Tad: Dwight gets 43 … Lakers win, but its close … and dont scare me with a bionic bynum story.

Lakers are set. Tied with Detriot for best starting 5, but has a much much deeper bench.
Maybe, maybe a vet guard when Fish gets tired of staying in his phenomenal shape. Vujaicisdhh and Farmar aren’t ready to be starting points yet.

May.7 at 3:51 pm

Jay Davis says:
B. Long, not sure if Farmar’s a starter, so they could be looking for a point. Fisher’s 32 or 33, I think.

May.7 at 3:53 pm

B. Long says:
TADOne: True, true…but honestly they are so solid for the forseeable future it’s scary. I would say the point with D-Fish getting up there in age but the man just knows his role so well and Jordy’s ballin off the bench and playing great D so I really can’t think of anything they need. Except Young Drew’s knee.

The Second Coming says:
dude sasha on LA is gonna be sick…he really turned the corner this year. I’m seeing him be a 18pt scorer eventually.

May.7 at 4:15 pm

TADOne says:
I can guarantee Dwight will not score 43 pts on the detroit big’s. He has a better chance getting 43 rebounds.

May.7 at 4:27 pm

Jim says:
I like how this is a classic “Detroit let down”…if any other team went up 2-0 then lost game 3 (which happens a lot) it would just be seen as the home team being fired up and playing a good game, but for Detroit it’s a let down. They’ve won 5 straight in the playoffs by an avg. of 15 pts…they are due for a loss sometime soon.

ciolkstar says:
If the Bugs splatter the Spurs i’ll definitely be rooting for them over Kobe and friends. But I honestly think the Spurs are going to win both home games, and that whoever wins game 5 will go on to win the series (…and maybe the Chip. Beantown looks as weak as they have all season right about now…)

Jordan Farmar should be traded for Chris Paul.

B. Long says:
@ciolkstar: There is no way in hell that the San Antonio Snores are coming back against Nawlins. The Lakers will handle Utah in 4 or 5 and then sweep the Hornets. A six game series will ensue with either the Pistons or Celtics but it don’t matter cause Kobe is getting his pinkie ring.

May.7 at 6:35 pm

B. Long says:
@G. Diesel: The Lakers are only allowed to r@pe one franchise a decade. Would be sick though.

May.7 at 6:36 pm

B. Long says:
Bubba Chuck rooting for Utah is like Jack Nicholson rooting for the Celtics. Ugh.

May.7 at 6:37 pm

B. Long says:
@Bubba: Tell your boy Melo to hire a driver. Gawd Damn.

Lakers will win game 2 as Kobe continues to celebrate his MVPness!

May.7 at 7:22 pm

Bubba Chuck says:
@ B. Long: As long as they beat tha lakers. And Melo aint my boi. AI is my boi! Melo sux & needs 2 be traded

May.7 at 7:42 pm

B. Long says:
@Bubba: They aint beating the Lakeshow and if AI ever really wants a shot at some jewlery besides his own pieces he needs to head west. Thuggets got to much invested in Melo to trade him. J.R. is sick though. I wish he would’ve went to Carolina for one year since thats where he signed.

May.7 at 7:46 pm

RV says:
If the Lakers lose tonight they should take that MVP trophy right back

May.7 at 7:46 pm

Bubba Chuck says:
Ya JR is dope

May.7 at 7:53 pm

B. Long says:
RV: If the Hornets beat the Spurs, the Lakers may walk into the Finals undefeated. The way Kobe has played this decade they should give his ass two trophies just to make up for the fact that it took so long to get the first one.

May.7 at 8:26 pm

ciolkstar says:
I’m pretty sure reggie just said “one pounce bass pass” I think trying to say “one-bounce pass” but got confused by auto-saying “one pound bass” or something like that. And Pam really can’t say “right hamstring strain”. If TNT loses Mark Jackson and/or Van Gundy its gonna be turrible.

May.7 at 8:30 pm

ciolkstar says:
B. Long - the Lakers aren’t as good as you think they are. And “wait till Bynum comes back” justdoesn’t have that ring to it anymore… They won’t win it this year.

May.7 at 9:37 pm

RV says:
B Long, i was mostly trying to say the MVP shouldn’t let his team lose the night he’s given the trophy, ANY mvp, i agree Kobe’s been great, but it won’t be that easy for them to get past the hornets, their defense isn’t great, which would allow the hornets to score, the hornets can play D, so the lakers won’t score as much as they are use to, all that means the score should be close for the majority of the series.

May.7 at 9:50 pm

G Diesel says:
@B.Long: I was being sarcastic. Nobody would trade CP3 for any other guard in the league right now.

A Point guard comes to mind only because Derek Fisher can’t have long to go…

May.7 at 10:31 pm

James the balla says:
Chris paul to Cleveland for the whole cleveland bench including the stadium, and they will play 2 on 5 in the street, and if they need help they will just pick up some NBDL players.

May.7 at 11:45 pm

Krishan says:
Marcel has some eerie hippie powers, he totally called the detroit bashing tonight

May.8 at 12:12 am

B. Long says:
@ciolkstar: Don’t hate cause the Spurs got one foot in the casket and there is no way there coming back. By the way did you see the way the Lakers handled Nawlins the last game of the year? They might lose one to the Jazz or Nawlins on the road but thats it.

May.8 at 2:14 am

Tuomas says:
Wow. Billups injury aside, Detroit still stunk up the joint. 40% shooting while letting the Magic go for 53 from the field and 45 behind the arc. Of the starters (Chauncey being exempt) only Tay and Rip played good, Max got a donut and Sheed just sucked. Well, Rip also had six of the team’s ten turnovers. It was still only four at the end of third, but then the wheels came off. Really hope Billups is ok, although Stuckey showed he can play even in these kind of games. Hats off to Orlando.

May.8 at 2:26 am

Tuomas says:
Oh, and didn’t see Sheed talking trash to the media, which is good I guess. There’s still time for it, but I kinda hope he finds his motivation elsewhere. Lord knows there’s room for improvement though. It’s tough to come back from 16 down, they just seemed to let it go when Orlando got hot again to start the fourth.

DTuck says:
Tha Lakers only need to pick up another 7 footer, maybe even 2. I’d toss Mihm and Mbenga to the curb and take some young athletic bigs. Combine that with Bynum coming back, and it’s a wrap. Bynum’s gonna be alright eventually, and Fish gonna be straight for a while. I think Jordan is on point, so need to swing for another pg in my mind. Long as L.A. rebound and try to play D, I like our chances against anybody.
