Except for the San Antonio game Sam has been an absolute disaster for this team.

Sam Cassell is basically washed-up. He may be able to be effective at times if the Celts wind up making it to face the Pistons, but against any guards with athleticism, he is an asset to the opposing team. Sucks to be a scorer who can’t score anymore.

Boston needs some outside shooting fast.

I think I gave Ray Allen the evil eye. About a month ago, I told Ryan that I couldn’t write while I was reading Abdelrahman Munif, because that makes me feel like I’m in the gym shooting threes next to Ray Allen. Ray immediately turned into Antonio Daniels after I said that.

I’ve historically disliked Cassell. But I respect his old man game and how he can get that turnaround J off with no space, but I think he may have caused a regression in Rondo’s confidence as well. Boston’s in even more trouble than I thought if they’re turning to Eddie House for playoff contributions.

tealish says:
Ray Allen doesn’t get consistent shots. A lot of his missed J’s are a result of him forcing the issue b/c he hadn’t taken a shot for a quarter and that really isn’t his game. That’s partly because Rondo is still not a premiere guard. At times he looks great, but he doesn’t know how to run a team and spread the ball. Get Ray some shots early, and that sweet J will start falling in the 4th when they’re dying for buckets. I’d like to see Rondo shoot no more than 10 shots, and the Celts will take Game 5.

Too bad the C’s didn’t sign Glen Robinson too. The Milwaukee 3 headed monster would have been re-united for one last run…errr limp…at an NBA title

the problem with the celtics is nobody is motivated on that team because everytime they win, kg gets ALL the credit and everytime they lose the rest of the team gets blamed.

Jake - the only way that could have been better is if they also traded for small balls fugazi (Tim Thomas)

i think the celt’s problem is coaching. what happens to the unselfish superstars? aren’t they suppose to make each other better? why do they keep playing like they are the only player on the team? no ball movement, no player movement. is george karl coaching there too?

i am just mad the C’s grabbed sam in the first place…he doesnt belong there all he does when hes in the game is shoot. he should leave that to better shooters cause having a second coming of nick van exel scares me…specially on my c’s…

Tommy Patron says:
Tealish-I think it has less to do with Rondo, and more to do with Doc Rivers not putting the players in the proper position to score, or maybe Ray-Ray can’t run off double screens quickly enough to get open anymore.

This is good. More playing time 4 my man Rajon Rondo. Showin off that Kentucky pride baby!

I think the fault is on all of you for thinking Rajon Rondo was a good guard in the first place

credit Cleveland for playing its usual tough defense… but yeah, also blame Doc for his veteran fetish with guys know what they’re doing so that covers up the fact that he doesn’t.

KG should call him out publicly, Sam would score at least 20 the next game, guaranteed.

albie1kenobi says:
speaking of bill simmons, he actually wrote a pretty good column regarding doc’s ridiculous coaching scheme. if the C’s follow the column’s pointers, they shouldn’t have any problems in this series.

Forget the bench, they should buy a barn and bury him behind it.

Or, they’ll play him in the second quarter. And he’ll still suck. GOOD JOB, DOC.

LOL@”small balls fugazi” call - Sweet BRYANT REEVES. Doc Rivers is a crap coach fortunate to stand on the celtics sideline…. The roster on this team is pretty tight. I think that they could almost do better coaching themselves…

sam was benched the whole second half and delonte west still went off even though rondo had a career night, sam shot just off they gone need him if they advance to the next round he’s proven in the playoffs dont forget that

what says:
Sam Cassell going up against Delonte West… someone needs to take a picture of that and send it to the Hall of Fame. I don’t think we’ll see another combination of ugliness that extreme for a while.

Slobodan Chutzpah says:
Well, Doc solved the conundrum by benching both Cassell and House, and playing Rondo the whole game. I don’t know why he doesn’t play House who has given them long-range shooting and toughness all year long. Sam was an abysmal hire for the Celts, all he’s done is disrupt what they are doing.
May.15 at 4:37 am
Slobodan Chutzpah says:
And yes, that Simmons article was spot-on. After a very solid regular season, Doc has come close to imploding in the Playoffs.

I was playing NBA 2K8 a few weeks back, and my opponent was using the Celtics. He inserted Sam I am early in the 3rd quarter and proceeded to drop 20 straight points all by himself. He can still do it in the video games, that’s for sure.

after seeing sam ball hog down the court only to get called for a charge i say he is like gary payton and karl malone wanting a ring for just being on the team at least brian scalibriny has been there for a few years
