Back in January, SLAM partnered with the Spaulding Hoophall Classic in Springfield, Mass. Springfield Central High School, because they were a local team, had two games spread out over the four-day MLK-Day weekend showcase.

Over the weekend, Springfield Central senior Mario Hornsby was shot and killed Saturday morning returning from a local night club. Assistant Principal Tad Tokarz told the Associated Press that Hornsby planning on entering Brandeis University next fall. He was just 19-years-old.
