Knicks to Interview Avery
Donnie Walsh is scheduled to meet with Avery Johnson today about possibly replacing Isiah Thomas on the Knicks’ bench.
(Wasn’t it just last week that Mark Jackson was pretty much a lock for the job?)

Well, if this happens, at least Roach and Nate Robinson will see eye to eye.

Walsh would be foolish to not interview all available candidates. That said, I hope he hires M.A.J. And if he does, I hope Action becomes the first coach to draw a tech for doing the Airplane.

Are pro sports the only industry where people are fired from their job only to be rehired by another company for the same position?

No, I think that happens with crappy CEOs too, only difference is CEOs get paid eight figures to leave their old company and nine figures to join their new company.

NBA is one big hire&fire family. It’s like a secret society except it’s overt.
Remember AJ after he made that shot in the 1999 finals?

I honestly believe that all NBA coaches are good with a few great ones (jax, sloan, pop). The NBA is a players’ league. The Knicks were terrible because their skills (or lack thereof) were not compatible. Mind you that’s still Isiah’s fault…

being fired as an NBA coach doesn’t say much, coaches don’t just get picked off the street, the majority know what they’re doing, but its impossible for one coach to coach various styles, that’s why u gotta find the right fit. They get fired because its easier to remove one guy than 15.
