Getting Closer and Closer to Stern’s Dream Finals Matchup

Though, of course, the Commissioner would never admit that he’s “dreaming” of a Lakers/Celtics Finals.

It WILL happen!

Ryan Jones says:
I’m not convinced this was ever the League’s ultimate “dream” anything. Lakers-Cavs would’ve gotten better ratings. It’s not 1987 anymore.

Ryan Jones says:
Although Ray Allen is HUGE in China.

Elvis says:
Perfect scenario for Kobe and the lakers is to beat the spurs and then beat the pistons. If he did that without Shaq he would elevate his superstar status even more cuz they obviously have lost to both those teams with shaq. I still wouldn’t mind seeing lakers v. celtics finals.

Eboy says:
It will be promoted as such, if they both make it in. And the bandwagons of both have been full since the beginning of the season for the Celts and since the Gasol deal for the Lakers, so surpluss dollars are waiting to be plundered in t-shirt, tribute books, dvd sales, etc from true fans and leeches, all the same.

some of the comments from that Market Watch link are just CRAZY

Ryan always finds a way to stick the Cavs in conversation. I agree with him though, Lakers/Cavs would get more ratings

B. Long says:
I’d love to see a Lakers vs. Pistons personally. Just so Kobe could put to rest whose fault that finals collapse was once and for all.

44-32-24 says:
As long as the Lakers win it all, I don’t care who they beat. 9 wins down, 7 to go.

May.22 at 2:26 pm

B. Long says:
Though, it would be hiliarious to watch Ray Allen try to guard Kobe while shooting 3-12 from the field himself.

May.22 at 2:26 pm

B. Long says:
3-12 might have been to generous.

underdog says:
This post season is soo good, I don’t even care who will and who won’t play in the finals. Although I wouldn’t mind if the good ol’ Pistons would stop the bean-town bandwagon. But I say both conference finals gonna be nasty!

iLL wiLL says:
Personally, I’d rather see a Pistons/Lakers finals.

Russ Bengtson says:
The Lakers need to make it just so the whole Finals isn’t a complete offensive disaster. Celtics/Pistons vs. Spurs might result in an entire series where no one breaks 90. And me watching more baseball.

True fans and leeches…Eboy, your time will come. (If Pat hits with the slickness)

First the first time ever I was rooting for the team with Kobe on it instead of the other way around. This was a very enjoyable change. Kobe will beat the Spurs and then Boston will beat Kobe. OK, Lakeshow will beat Boston, but I hope that’s not how it goes down.

Diogo says:
Can they “unretire” Magic and Bird, and suit them in their respective retired uniforms, for historical sake? Better yet, put Russel in for Perkins, and get Kareem to fill in for Pau. It’d be great, specially to remember Stern that he WASN’T on the job when things were this great.

E. Sneed says:
I’m with Ryan, when I saw it wasn’t going to be Kobe versus LeBron then I personally started praying for a C’s vs. Lakers series…I really don’t want to see a Pistons vs. Spurs again, nor do I want 75-73 final scores if the Spurs meet the Celtics

May.22 at 4:19 pm

Bowski says:
The Lebrons are terrible to watch. He is amazing but his teammates do nothing all game. Celtics-Lakers will be a much better series than that ever could have been

am i the only person that appreciates a good defensive game?

May.22 at 5:24 pm

BETCATS says:
Kobe, Gasol, and Odom v. Pierce, Garrnet, and Allen should be intresting, but Kobe v. Lebron is like watching USA v. USSR

I thought Stern was dreaming of a Suns/Celtics rematch. Spirit of ‘76!

May.22 at 6:41 pm

B. Long says:
I bet he still has nightmares about the Rockets/Knicks finals. Almost single handedly flatlined the league.

hell I would like a Lakers-Celtics Finals. Get it on.

j-hop says:
morons. the ultimate matchup is the best teams of the decade and that happens to be pistons vs. spurs. be real ans stop being biased

May.23 at 3:40 am

Froggiestyle says:
Pistons will shock the Celt’s, the Spurs will put up a good fight, but it’s the Lakers year this year. LAL-DET, lakers in 5.

May.23 at 6:33 am

Jim Mora says:
Pistons-Spurs is a very good matchup. it’s all defense, but it’s not as if it was two teams who can’t play. they miss shots because they are contested, not because they suck.
true fans don’t care about watching 220+ pts in a game if it’s all uncontested layups or dunks.
I find GS and DEN are boring, not the spurs.
Any matchup between these four will be great, but stop hating on the spurs/pistons

I would like to see a classic Celtics, and Lakers matchup. The Boston three party and the rest of the Celts against Kobe and his Lakers. I don’t blame comish David Stern for dreaming of that matchup. His ratings would more than likely go up.
