H to the izzo says:
Maybe this is Gods way of punishing the Bulls for being lucky enough to have gotten MJ,dooming them to be mediocre to sucky for the rest of their organizational life.
May.29 at 12:43 pm
Bro D says:
For the record: I hate Doug Collins’ commentary so I’m happy I don’t have to hear him speak anymore other than occasional f-bomb he’ll drop trying to get Gordon to defend.
May.29 at 12:45 pm
Candice says:
Jer Boi, I like Collins as a analyst? What’s wrong with him?
May.29 at 12:45 pm
Silky Slim says:
This would definitely be a great hire for the Bulls. The one thing D. Collins will have to do is adjust his coaching scheme to fit the personnel he has. There’s no question about the fact he knows the Xs and Os of the game.
May.29 at 12:49 pm
Silky Slim says:
Even Hubie Brown was able to come back into the league as a coach and guide Memphis to the playoffs.
May.29 at 12:49 pm
TADOne says:
Well, he certainly knows Chicago Stadium. Oh, wait……

What’s wrong Russ?
May.29 at 1:08 pm
TADOne says:
Someone check the news and make sure that no BMX riders have gone off the Brooklyn Bridge in the last hour.
May.29 at 1:09 pm
Eboy says:
TAD’s rollin’ right now.
May.29 at 1:11 pm
Candice says:
Tadd, I’m worry too. It just seems like it’s taking Russ a long time to repsond. On Chad chat right now, it seems that he thinks this hiring is for Colllins to train a successor.
May.29 at 1:12 pm
Kevin Wilson says:
Somehow, “Get the ball to Ben Gordon and get the f#?k out of the way” doesn’t have the same ring to it.
May.29 at 1:13 pm
Eboy says:
Nice!
May.29 at 1:13 pm
TADOne says:
Wasn’t that the same thing Collins did before with Chicago? Well, not exactly train, but he did precede Phil.
May.29 at 1:14 pm
Candice says:
LOL Kevin
May.29 at 1:14 pm
Candice says:
I meant to say Chad Ford chat
May.29 at 1:15 pm
TADOne says:
Oh, in that case, nevermind. Chad Ford has no juice in my book.
May.29 at 1:15 pm
Khalid Salaam says:
wow
May.29 at 1:19 pm
Candice says:
I suppose Tadd, because Phil was his assistant. Someone on the chat named Jeff Hornacek as someone to be groomed. I honestly don’t remember Collins coaching and only remember what Kevin qouted.
May.29 at 1:20 pm
Candice says:
I’m not hearing anything on Chicago outlets right now.
May.29 at 1:27 pm
TADOne says:
Horny! Where is Hornaceck now? I thought he had a front office job with the Suns?
May.29 at 1:32 pm
Candice says:
I can’t believe I’m listening to sports radio right now just to hear something. Tadd it seems that the running theme in Chicago is Doug Collins having grooming a successor. Of cousrse it’s just callers calling in.
May.29 at 1:35 pm
Candice says:
Chad ford said that Kerr was eyeying Collins as well and I heard the same thing on First Take. Maybe it’s a Bulls thing. Collin’s has six honorary ring’s with the Bulls. Maybe it’s a BUll’s thing.
May.29 at 1:41 pm
Mooks says:
Doug is going to pull a Kwame on Mike Beasley! Woot!
May.29 at 1:47 pm
Silky Slim says:
Mooks, there’s a huge difference between Kwame and B. Easy. Kwame was unproven. He came into the league straight outta high school. B. Easy played one year in the Big 12. B. Easy destroyed Kansas in their first matchup, but foul trouble kept him from destroying Kansas in their second matchup. B. Easy is official, son!

Russ Bengtson says:
I’m trying to come up with a reason to be happy about this and failing miserably.
May.29 at 1:51 pm
Candice says:
Aww, Russ
May.29 at 1:51 pm
Eboy says:
Poor Russ.
May.29 at 1:52 pm
Silky Slim says:
@Russ: You’re going toregret making that statement when the Bulls make the playoffs next year!

an old, washed-up retread coach whose teams play slow and has a repuation for burning out his players . . . outstanding
May.29 at 2:02 pm
Tommy Patron says:
@ Russ, Collins has a lot to prove. Maybe that is what we have to be happy about. I am shocked by this, since Collins came out and said he won’t coach and is happy announcing when mentioned in connection with the Suns.
May.29 at 2:07 pm
Justin says:
see: Hill, Brian. Orlando, FL.
May.29 at 2:07 pm
Russ Bengtson says:
Silky: Collins was fired from the Bulls the first time because his psychotic style grated on the players. If I’m not mistaken, the coach they JUST FIRED was fired because his harsh disciplinary style grated on the players. I’m looking forward to Tyrus Thomas being traded by the deadline and becoming an All-Star elsewhere.
May.29 at 2:09 pm
Russ Bengtson says:
Hiring retreads is one thing, hiring your OWN retread is next level. I feel like jumping out my window.
May.29 at 2:12 pm
Tommy Patron says:
Russ: I grew up and live in Chicago, and I remember that when he got fired, in addition to some young players b*tiching, there was a rumor of some extra-curriculars with a member of the Luvabulls and a hush-hush settlement.
May.29 at 2:13 pm
TADOne says:
You guys are trendsetters, Russ.
May.29 at 2:14 pm
Tommy Patron says:
There is a distinct possibility that there will be a major melt-down here.
May.29 at 2:14 pm
BxBaller says:
This is great, no more of listening to that loser on TNT. But they rather hire him than Avery Johnson, Paul Silas, or any of the other coaches that are out there. Great Move Chi-City.
May.29 at 2:15 pm
Tommy Patron says:
BxBaller: I would have preferred Silas for sure. His calm toughness would have gone over big-time with the fans here.
May.29 at 2:17 pm
Sam Rubenstein says:
Russ, save it for the Top News post. Come on, do it! Do it! Do it! (Write it don’t jump)

man…the 80s are officially back. Transformers movie last year, Indiana Jones this year. GI Joe next year. People dressing like they are friends with Ferris Bueller and LL Cool J. Doug Collins back with the Bulls…. This must mean Fratello is coming back to the Hawks.
May.29 at 2:22 pm
Tommy Patron says:
To be clear, I am not a fan of Doug Collins, but, Russ, it’s not like he was really in charge in Washington. That whole situation was an anomaly and a joke.
May.29 at 2:26 pm
TADOne says:
LOL @ Sam.
May.29 at 2:28 pm
Diesel says:
@ Maurice - Throw into that another possible Ewing on the Knicks. I’m going to go get my Zuba pants right now…get in on the ground floor.
May.29 at 2:29 pm

Zubazz, I think you meant to say, Diesel.
May.29 at 2:31 pm
Russ Bengtson says:
At least he’s won all those titles.

Ryan Jones says:
Reasons to be happy if you’re a Bulls fan:
1, Jordan’s not there to f*ck it up.
2, Either Doc Rivers or Flip Saunders will be coaching a team in the NBA Finals this year. Is Doug Collins any worse?
May.29 at 4:49 pm
Ryan Jones says:
No. 1 obviously referring to their time together in D.C.
May.29 at 5:05 pm
Don says:
Jordan effed up the Wizards? Why do you say that? Just because he drafted Kwame brown number one, traded Rip for Stackhouse, hired Doug Collins to basically be his puppet coach, and made me throw up everytime i saw him in a Wizards uniform…i say besides those things, Jordan did a pretty good job…
May.29 at 5:07 pm
TADOne says:
So will Phil Jackson, Ryan.
May.29 at 5:07 pm
TADOne says:
Actually, that would be a reason for them to feel worse. Never mind.

warr says:
i dont dislike doug collins but everybody sound good behind the mic this is not a good fit for chicago, i almost he forgot he coach at washington why the same coaches keep gettin offers the nba just like the NFL just like the NHL
May.29 at 6:01 pm
Candice says:
Really, who else was out there? It’s not you looked at a list of canidates and said, wow.
May.29 at 7:21 pm
Russ Bengtson says:
Did Johnny “Red” Kerr say no? If they were gonna hire one of their own ex-coaches, I rather would have seen them go with Jerry Sloan or Phil Jackson.
May.29 at 7:27 pm
Co Co says:
Aw Russy…….. I like Doug as an announcer. Maybe now that he’s had a chance to sit back and watch the games he’ll be a better coach. Or not..
May.29 at 7:28 pm
Candice says:
Russ, is Sloan ever leaving Utah and is Phil really leaving LA? People in Chicago seem to be aboard with it nad like it.
May.29 at 7:56 pm
albie1kenobi says:
this development is as shocking as the gasol hijack, which really is the root cause of this signing. let’s follow the logic here: gasol became a laker => suns reacted by trading for shaq => suns became not d’antoni’s fun run ‘n gun team => d’antoni hijacked the knicks => bulls pull off a miracle panic move. similiarly detrimental.
May.29 at 8:26 pm
Russ Bengtson says:
I’ll be down to write a longer post on this as soon as it’s officially official.
May.29 at 10:06 pm
Mark Z says:
Wow. Hiring Scott Skiles dad was the best they could do?! I can’t decide if this was the dumbest coaching move or if it was the BETCats giving LB a 4 yr deal…
May.29 at 11:43 pm
Hursty says:
now the bulls are ‘kinda’ denying it. saying they are in talks and negotiations with other people still….
May.30 at 11:56 am
mat smith says:
MJ once said after a player on another team moaned about a shouty coach “at least YOUR coach doesnt cry after every loss” more tears for doug and the bulls, damn, i love luol too….
