The way great PGs have helped teams win right away recently I might start leaning towards Rose. Esp in MIA where you’ve already got Wade and Marion (who is sort of similar to Beasley in that he’s a hybrid 3/4)

if I was the heat and had the number 1 pick I would trade down no lesser than 5 th and pick the better lopez brother and get a future pick next year. And i say that because all the good teams in both conference has bigs and I think he will be productive.

Rasheedionics says:
Have there ever in NBA history a case where a top 3 pick has been traded? I don’t think so. At the end of the day, it’s a crop shoot. There’s no Lebron in this draft. There’s no even Kevin Durant. You never know which one of these guy will turn out to be successful in NBA.
May.14 at 3:05 pm
B. Long says:
@Rasheedionics:There is no Kevin Durant in this draft? Did you watch a college basketball game this year? Beastley is way more NBA ready than KD and Rose is better than 3/4 of the starting point guards in the NBA right now. Barring injuries these guys will both be all stars in 3 years min.
May.14 at 3:10 pm
Rasheedionics says:
I saw College basketball and I don’t think either of 2 guys are lock to be All-Stars in NBA. I’m not saying they’re going to be next JJ Reddick and Adam Morrison but I haven’t seen enough to make me thing that they’re guaranteed to be successful.

Miami can go either way point with Mr. Rose or go with Beasely. They need more height and some to throw down in the post when the guard play gets played out.
May.14 at 5:19 pm
The Promise says:
I still think that Derrick Rose would be the better pick for them. They gotta get a point guard to get Dwade the ball, and if Marion stays, you definitely have to draft Rose. He is a great fit out there runnin with Wade and Marion, throwin em lobs and stuff. Im not so sure about Beasley. The question about him is this: Is he too small to play the 4 in the NBA? If so, is he quick enough to keep up with the good small forwards like, Tayshaun, Paul Pierce, etc. I think he will be a good player in te long run, but I think Rose has a little more NBA talent.

Apparently, the Heat think that they lost so many games that the number 1 pick is already thiers. Somebody from Slam, please use your connections to tell someone from the Heat that this isnt the NFL and there is a lottery.

James says:
I swear the team with the most chances hasnt actually won the lottery in a fair few years… so who says its going to be Miami’s choice?
RV says:
it’s a tough decision, either way the Heat would have a great core if Marion stays, but i dont see them getting much help because of the amount of money Marion and Wade will make. I’d let Marion go and pick up 2 for the price of 1 via free agency after the draft.
May.14 at 7:46 pm
RV says:
As far as who they should actually pick, I think they should look at the surrounding positions. The hardest thing do would be to get a big man via trade or free agency than a guard. So i’d say Beasley, but both are freakish athletes, and Rose’s body control on drives is incredible.

Top 3 picks traded (I’m pretty sure there’s been more, but they are not appearing in my jetlagged brain just now); Steve Francis (picked no. 2 by Grizzlies) was traded to Houston for a bunch of scrubs (dont’ really remember who they were, Battier maybe? anyone?)who ended out having more succesfull careers than Stevie himself.
