Mike D’Antoni fired!
Wait, maybe not. But probably. Gahhh. My head hurts.
“There’s no truth to that,” Kerr said. “I asked Mike when the story came out, and he denied it. Mike’s our coach and has done a great job for four years.”
Asked if he wanted to return as Phoenix’s coach, D’Antoni evaded the question, saying, “We’ll sit down and talk and evaluate everything and see where we are.”
Very convincing, Mike!
Avery Johnson. Fired. Very, very fired. The Bulls could be interested in his services, though.
Flip Saunders is still gainfully employed by the Pistons and they’re about to advance to the second round of the Playoffs, but hilariously enough, everyone seems to be of the impression that he’ll soon be a goner.

And Avery and D’Antoni shouldn’t have been axed. Both did great jobs with a roster that’s worse than it looks. Well, maybe D’Antoni. His face when crying about a call just bugs me.

I really think that Bull’s are going to go after Avery. A lot of people on here seem to think that’s a bad thing so now I’m scared.

The Mav’s just need to change their on the floor leadership. Dirk’s great offensively. He IS NOT a leader. Its very rare that I’ve seen any European lead an NBA team to anything. Except the Spurs.

I agree with Paniscus. They have great tools for fast break ball. D’Antoni would likely make more use of Stoudemire due to his shooting skills. I don’t know if Joe Johnson would like that though. He and Mike didn’t leave on the best terms.

D’Antoni has led Phoenix to four straight 50 win seasons and changed the status quo by masterminding the Suns run n’ gun attack. An attack that multiple teams have since tried to imitate. D’Antoni’s critics point to his failure to develop his bench and the Suns deficiencies on defense. Mike deserves blame for his rotation decisions but the Suns simply do not have the personnel to be a good defensive team. Bottom line: he shouldn’t be made the scapegoat for the disastrous trade that brought Shaq to the Valley of the Sun.

Flip is not a goner unless someone else is willing to take him. Bill Davidson is sick of paying coaches not to coach. He would much rather wait out the expiring contract that he has next year. Plus there really is not a great alternative to Flip on the market. Joe D wants an experienced coach that will earn his players respect but not control them. Joe D is the ultimate player’s GM and he would not want his players treated like children like Avery and Skiles would.

avery for the suns and d’antoni for the Mavs would work for both teams. Avery could get the Suns to play a little D and D’Antoni could take advantage of Kidd’s fastbreak skills.
