Worthy of Your Attention
I hate both teams. As a Laker fan, there is no other choice. And yet, there I was on Saturday afternoon, leaping off of my couch and yelling like a maniac as they played in one of the greatest postseason games in NBA history. Game 1 of the Suns/Spurs series was one for the ages, and there’s no reason to believe that we’ve seen the best from these two.
Phoenix showed that they can play against, and possibly even beat this team. Were it not for Shaq and Amare’s foul trouble, it could very easily be the Spurs facing a must-win situation tonight. Of course, it’s kind of hard to beat a team that forces a second overtime thanks to its Hall of Fame power forward deciding to knock down his first three-point bomb of the season.
Whoever comes out of this series is going to be bruised, battered, and more than anything else, exhausted. The winner should be given at least two weeks off before playing in the following round.
Also on tap tonight…
Toronto @ Orlando, Game 2: Can the Raptors do anything to slow down Dwight Howard? I’ll take “no”, Alex.
Dallas @ New Orleans, Game 2: I never thought Erick Dampier would be part of any storyline during this (or any other) series, and yet, here we are.

I enjoy the Suns of Phoenix basketballers club. They are quite nice at passing the round ball through the hoop. Indeed.

the winner of the Suns/Spurs series deserves a trophy just for that series. Suns should’ve won Game 1 though, now i’m nervous :/

it’s definitely possible that suns can beat the spurs, but you also forgot to mention that the spurs played as terrible as they could during the first half of game 1. if it wasn’t for that robot they’d have lost the game. i’m rooting for the spurs but if the suns take the series i won’t be surprised one bit.

Maybe this time we’ll have a recap from slamonline. I understand game 1 did not deserve one because of the poor level of play, nor did the series because of the low expectations…just sayin’

Spurs need to do everyone a favor and lose so we don’t have to be subject to another boring finals. “Parker passes to Duncan. He holds it…holds it..holds it” Insert quote on how well Duncan uses the glass here.

Even though I loves me some Babyeater Howard, I can’t really muster any excitement about Raps/Magic. Am I the only one? Thankfully its on NBATV, where no one watching happens.

Yea, the Raps/Magic series dosent really grab me, but DET/PHI just got a little more interesting.
Apr.22 at 6:24 pm
tenorca says:
Yeah, J-Bird. I think Detroit needs to man up and remember they’ve lost to inferior teams for several years running. The “We’re smugger than Kobe” act is failing them. Mo Cheeks for president.

yes i enjoy watching spurs play ball. i enjoy duncan luring people to sleep with his fundamental post game, i enjoy the extra pass to the open man for a corner 3, i enjoy watching stiffling defense that cause terrible shots and 24 second violations, and i love watching ginobili’s unorthodox style of play.
and no, i’m not being sarcastic in any of above statements.

When is it too early to stop taking the Mavs seriously? My vote was last year, after Matt frickin Barnes chumped Nowitzki, but they look baaaaaad right now.

TADOne says:
Hornets had a franchise record 39 pts at the end of the 1st quarter, and are up 17 at the half. I think NOW is about a good time to stop taking them serious.

Yeah. Check the sheets; Mavs are sh!tting the bed.

I guess the Hornets aren’t bothered by their inexperience. Who goes this summer, Dirk or Avery? P.S. I demand frequent shots of Mark Cuban—we had to see him all season, let’s get a look while he’s miserable.

Russ, at the end of the 3rd? unethical but intelligent by Pop. Pop has used 11 players. suns-8.
Apr.23 at 12:03 am
Russ Bengtson says:
Totally unethical, I still love it. Also, interviews with coaches DURING games has to stop. If it doesn’t, I fear something terrible will happen–like Jerry Sloan murdering Michelle Tafoya on live TV.

in game 1 sloan gave huge death stares, esp. at the end of the 3rd. Adelman justs grumbles.

Hursty says:
at the end of quarters is inappropriate. They can just watch the coaches in the locker room cant they? The suns commentators told “Stern should get off his fat but and so something about this travesty” referring to hack a shaq.
Apr.23 at 12:11 am
Hursty says:
if it were at the half just after they come out of the locker room for maybe 10-15 seconds then fine. If it ever starts on the sidelines then thats just BS (it happens sometimes here but its on football grounds where the coaches influence is not so drastic.)

Did Tony Parker just take a stab at Shaq about him being divorced when asked about getting hit by Shaq saying, “I’ll be ok, my wife will take care of me tonight.”
Apr.23 at 12:46 am
Hursty says:
no, just saying that he has a really hot wife (in some opinions), TP sounds like a pretty classy dude, I dont think he would take a cheap shot like that at Shaq.
Apr.23 at 1:27 am
Sarah says:
Yeah, I don’t think that’s what Tony was trying to do at all. Apparently, he misses the little woman now that the writers are back to work. By the way, as Chuck said, TP’s defense and offense were on point tonight..

I’m a little concerned by the none-event that was the 3rd quarter…i was listening on NBA LISTENLive….were the Spurs really shutting down the offense? It seemed as the Leandro particularly was getting to the basketball just nothing dropped…!?
In any event - as much as I want the Suns to win the whole thing…its something that must be said - WHOEVER drops out of the first round here in this series doesn’t deserve to. I think the loser should play the winner of the Lakers / Nuggets series for a 2nd chance.
