Eboy says:
Yeah, so they can demand the ball from the rookie with no fear of having to actually share the ball. Get the f*ck out of here.

Apr.28 at 1:37 pm

TADOne says:
So Miami is going to a ’small ball’ offense?

Apr.28 at 1:39 pm

Camzilla says:
If the Heat get Rose in the Draft it’s going to be Phoenix in the East (High Powered Offense).
P.S. I’m not hating on Pretty Ricky, but he has to go he’s not going to fit that kind of O next season.

1st!

Apr.28 at 1:39 pm

JackBrown says:
For some reason that seems like it would be an unfortunate situation for Mr. Rose.

Apr.28 at 1:41 pm

Eboy says:
Yeah, a small ball team, with Wade begging Zo to come back? Come on now.

Apr.28 at 1:45 pm

Lz - Cphfinest3 says:
Beasley would be better fit.

Apr.28 at 1:51 pm

B. Long says:
Eboy, Somehow told ya so seems to easy right now. Now tell the Evil Genius. (Riley) to go get Brand.

Apr.28 at 1:54 pm

Cheryl says:
Well, I don’t know about “small ball”, but it will be “young ball” with a young coach in Eric Spoelstra. Riley to step down today at 4pm press conference.

Apr.28 at 1:54 pm

TADOne says:
Hey E, I was just reiterating what it said in the article.

Apr.28 at 1:58 pm

B. Long says:
Marion thinks they should take Shawn Marion first.

Apr.28 at 2:00 pm

Eboy says:
I know TAD. I was just reiterating it from the story.

Apr.28 at 2:01 pm

tenorca says:
Cheryl with the scoop! I was sincerely hoping this would say “And his name is Kwame Brown,” though.

Apr.28 at 2:02 pm

TADOne says:
Cheryl, seriously?

Apr.28 at 2:03 pm

Eboy says:
Cheryl, I heard that yesterday and I’m surprised it hadn’t come out earlier. I like that Spolstra’s getting the gig, now they just need a big man.

Apr.28 at 2:04 pm

Eboy says:
It’s on SunSentinel.com on the main page, TAD.

Apr.28 at 2:05 pm

TADOne says:
Hmmm, interesting. So is Riles still staying on as President/GM?

Apr.28 at 2:06 pm

Eboy says:
Yeah. Better to be heard than seen in this case.

Apr.28 at 2:06 pm

BETCATS says:
Bobcats will ’settle’ on Mike Beasley

Apr.28 at 2:09 pm

TADOne says:
So is Spolstra a puppet like Van Gundy?

Apr.28 at 2:09 pm

BETCATS says:
Riley will return in 1-2 years

Apr.28 at 2:11 pm

Cheryl says:
Spoelstra’s a Wade guy, so as long as he’s happy with him, Eric stays.

Apr.28 at 2:11 pm

B. Long says:
Elton Brand! Someone please save this man from NBA purgatory. Trade Davis, Wright, Cook to Pacers for JO.
Rose
Wade
Marion
Brand
JO=Eastern Champs

Apr.28 at 2:12 pm

BETCATS says:
NBA should go back to the 6 round system. I never experinced it but it would be cool to say we have a draft even more boring than Day 2 of the NFL’s.

Apr.28 at 2:13 pm

BETCATS says:
B Long that also equals a lot of HUGE salaries

Apr.28 at 2:15 pm

TADOne says:
So was Shaq.

Apr.28 at 2:15 pm

Eboy says:
From what I’ve ssen of Spolstra I’d say not a puppet, more of a Riley disciple. He’s pretty demanding of his players (coaches the Heat’s summer league teams) and he has a great prep work ethic. I think his assistant coach staff is going to be critical to his success initially.

Apr.28 at 2:17 pm

TADOne says:
Van Gundy was too, right?

Apr.28 at 2:22 pm

Eboy says:
In a way, yes, but not quite as much as Spolstra, since he has no sibling to be compared too (Jeff Van Gundy)and Spolstra will inherit an almost entirely retooled roster to build from, not one created like the Heat’s title team was for Stan and then hijaked by Riles.

Apr.28 at 2:28 pm

Lz - Cphfinest3 says:
Heat should try for Okafor or Brand, if Beasley doesn’t arrive.

Apr.28 at 2:37 pm

RV says:
Riley will return on draft day to rep miami and take all the credit for the pick, then he’ll disappear once again

Apr.28 at 3:07 pm

Captain America says:
Heat need to worry about keeping Blount and Buckets..he..he

youngmuggsy says:
I know what they really want, a fat contract for a playoff-calibre team.

Apr.28 at 5:01 pm

steve cala says:
Marions staying? I think Beasley is a better fit anyway

Apr.28 at 6:05 pm

niQ says:
they want someone who plays just like wade?

Apr.28 at 7:01 pm

Kevin says:
i don’t really know much bout the new coach.. but i’ll take Eboy’s word for it since he follows the team with such interest.. i hope the Miami Heat franchise returns to respectability next year at the very least.

Apr.28 at 7:41 pm

B. Long says:
The Heat better do something big this offseason or we’re gonna see Flash in a Chi-town Jersey in the near future.

Apr.28 at 7:57 pm

The Promise says:
Why wouldnt you want Derrick Rose? He is the guy they need to really start rebuilding…if they get Mike Beasley they wont have a need to go after Brand because the ineup would be 2 small…they gotta get a point guard that can score and get Wade the ball…Then they clean house and get Brand or J Oneal…or maybe both if they can afford it…your franchise starts with a point guard…look at the Hornets and CP3…they went out and got Tyson Chanler and now they are one of the top contenders for the chip…I can see the same thing with the Heat if they play their cards right…what do you think Eboy? I wanna know…

Apr.28 at 8:03 pm

B. Long says:
@The Promise: Stop jacking my swagg. SEE 2:11 comment. And if they can even come close to paying Shaq what they were going to they can make this happen.

Apr.28 at 8:12 pm

Eboy says:
Promise, I’d be more open to a Rose pick if the Heat can pry Elton away, but I’d prefer a strong veteran point to team with Beasley, Wade, Marion (ugh) and move Haslem and whoever else they need to to get it done. I’d miss Haslem a ton, but if they can get Beasley in the mix with a point that can distribute the ball, Wade, Marion and Beasley would be three good scoring options.

Apr.28 at 8:19 pm

B. Long says:
Eboy, You always talk about getting a point guard that can distribute but honestly who you got in mine.

Apr.28 at 8:20 pm

B. Long says:
mind sorry.

Apr.28 at 9:20 pm

Cheryl says:
I gotta disagree with you, E. I think they take Rose if they get the chance, over Beasley. I don’t really see Beasley as a power player that we need at the 4, if Haslem goes. I’d prefer to keep UD because of his intensity and desire to play hard nosed defense. Sure, he’s “smallish” but he’s got heart and we lack that in abundance right now. Rose has the potential to be a nice option at the point, and Erik Spoelstra has been great with out guards. Beasley is (maybe) a scorer, but we lose defense in the power position if we lose Haslem, which I assume will happen if we pick Beasley. Sure, we need scorers, but we are in desperate need of stoppers.

Hmm…what about the tar Heel pf?

Apr.28 at 9:53 pm

I’m gonna laugh my butt off when the Sonics win the lottery.

Apr.28 at 10:44 pm

Dacre says:
well thats good to know actually…he’s was my fav player in college this year.
hey…you know suns got the 15 th right?? last time we snagged a 15th pick we got a pg that garnered back to back MVPs… silver lining…..

Apr.28 at 11:45 pm

Jose says:
normally i’d want beasly but he’s too small he’d have to take haslem’s spot at best. Draft rose, then either get brand or trade davis,wright,quinn,J-Will(some combination of those 4 in a 2-for-1) for a decent big man like okafer, curry,or aldridge if he wants to leave

Apr.29 at 2:32 pm

Zee! says:
Regardless of who they pick, given the state of the Eastern Conf, they’ll be in the thick of things, so long as Wade is healthy.

Apr.29 at 4:34 pm

Allenp says:
I like Rose. The hardest things to find in the league are a top notch, two way point and a top notch two way big man. Beasley is a great player, but I would always draft a great point over a great wing. But, I could be wrong.

Apr.29 at 4:35 pm

Allenp says:
Oh, and a 6′5″ backcourt isn’t really small. It’s actually a positive I would think. Wade and Rose would be interchangable on offense and defense. And with Marion at the three, they would be all right on the perimeter. If they manage to get Brand it’s light’s out.

Apr.29 at 7:22 pm

The Promise says:
@B.Long,about the 2:11 comment:do you really think the Pacers would take that trade? Davis, Wright, and Cook? Cook is the only guy in those 3 that the Pacers would even consider trading for…Davis and Wright are one of the reasons that Miami sucked this year…what about Haslem,Jwill, and Cook for J Oneal? They might actually take that…you have to give the other team something in return if you want theit franchise player man…

Apr.29 at 8:14 pm

B. Long says:
First of all calling JO a franchise player is like calling Allan Houston the franchise player of the Knicks….right now. I was just throwing names out there and I guarntee the Pacers would take just about anything to get rid of that contract and they could just cut Ricky. Your trade is more logical I’ll give you that.
