Eddie Jordan Sees Double Standards

by Marcel Mutoni

In the first two games of the combative Wizards/Cavs series, the hard fouls have been given out in nearly equal doses on both sides of the ball, it’s only that Washington is getting the brunt of the criticism since they’re fouling a guy that’s arguably the League’s biggest star.

As the series shifts to DC, coach Jordan and his troops would like to see a little more fairness.

“Well, if they are like the fouls they gave on us, you have to at least act like you are going for the ball and you can throw your body at anybody the way you like,” Jordan said yesterday. “Just watching the fouls they gave on us, it was, you know, pretend you are going for the ball and throw your body at the guy. So that’s a good technique.”

“If that’s Delonte West I fouled like that, do they throw me out of the game?” Haywood asked. “Probably not.”

Though Haywood does make a decent point - he probably doesn’t get kicked out of the game if that’s Delonte West he shoves, and no one makes a fuss - the fact remains that Washington has been whistled for 12 more fouls in the two games than Cleveland.

Sticking up for you guys is all fine and well (and expected); coming up with a game plan that involves more than being “physical” with LBJ should probably be a bigger concern at this point.

Maybe if the Wizards switched to zone…and added another guy…MAYBE then they’ll limit Lebron.

Maybe if the Wiz didn’t run their mouth’s before the series, the refs wouldn’t be keying on them so much.

The Wiz are in trouble. They don’t have someone a la Bruce Bowen to slow down LeBron, and their help D is awful. So they are forced to double him early in the shot clock, but the Cavs guards have been making their jumpers so far. The Wiz also don’t have anyone to handle Z in the post. If they win they’ll do it by scoring more points themselves, but they need a healthy Arenas for that.

Why not let Bron score 100, shut down everyone else and score 101 yourself?

They’re letting the guy beat them by desperately trying to stop him. I say let him get a sore wrist and take away the passing game. If Isiah can coach so can I.

Lebron is too smart and too natural a passer to completely leave that part of his game (passing) behind. Cleveland can work through Z if Lebron is doubled and get a ton of easy looks. The Wizards are going to need to play smart D, without just fouling every driver and putting the cavs in the penalty in every quarter. But more importantly they need to SCORE MORE POINTS! Whether that means Arenas or Soulja-Stevenson hitting 3’s or Antwan/Caron shooting a high percentage: plus they’ll need contributions from guys like Blatche, Songalia, Nick Young, etc… All of that might happen once or twice but not 4 out of the next 5 games.

No way in hell they are winning the series. Maybe if they all 12 players at the same time they have a chance..

i have said it before and i will say it again:superstars get favorable calls…and it didnt help that washington ran their mouths and put all the pressure on themselves… i think its funnt how no matter what LeBron does to shut them up,they just keep talkin…if they dont win tonight they are history and if they do get swept i dont wanna ever hear their mouths ever again…

RedRum says:
Hey… Eddy… how about shutting the hell up and teach your team to play some decent defense. you know… move feet, rotate, play helpside D?

Sesa says:
Damn, just play your normal offense already. I saw what the Wizards can do to the Celtics and they have the potential to defeat Cavaliers if only they were not too busy being “physical” with LeBron.
