Denver Is a Strange, Unlucky Team

Not only do they not play any defense whatsoever, but their team bus catches fire (!) on the way to a Playoff game, and the coaches perform some kind of pre-game mosh pit ritual.

Too many egos on the one team, they need to do something about that. It’s alright to have talent but it’s asif they play one on five on every possession. I won’t even mention the D or lack of it.

Could Denver beat ANY playoff team in a best of seven? I really doubt it.

They look like bro dudes at Ozzfest.

Gasol doesn’t dunk, he does a drop-in while brushing the rim (subtile but effectiv).
Denver’s defense in a Nuttshell: Kobe pass to Odem - Odem tippass to Gasol for the “diwbtr”- dunk. ALL within a 2 FT diameter of the denver rim!
Joke of the night: Kenyon the Kobe Stopper!

ohhh…you havent got a plan of denver….denver is a such of good team men..
if you want to say that denver is bad and strange then you’re stupid

Marty McFly says:
Game one was bad but it’s funny how everyone is discounting a 50 win team with the most explosive offense in the league. If they steal 1 game on the road this WILL be a tight series

Cub Buenning says:
I echo the sentiments from my friend from Back to the Future. If the Nuggets take care of the defensive boards (put a body on Lamar)and make a few free throws that game would have gone down to the wire.

Russ Bengtson says:
If the Knicks could win games they’d be the Nuggets.

Cub Buenning says:
You should also ignore yesterday’s date, the state they reside in, and their individual issues with a certain type of greenery.

Cub Buenning says:
Russ, do you have a relative that goes to Brown right now?

Apr.21 at 1:09 pm

Myles Brown says:
Everyone is discounting a 50 win team because its a forgone conclusion that they will give up 120 points a game. The Lakers arent gonna give up 121. Denver is so focused on Kobe that Pau is able to get whatever he wants. How many shots did he take outside the paint yesterday? Odom too. That, along with the Nuggs piss poor shot selection, the Lakers ability to defend for at least half the game, value possessions and realize that they dont need to take threes when Denver is giving away layups and youve got yourself all the makings of a sweep.

Cub Buenning says:
Myles, I just pressed the record button……

Apr.21 at 1:13 pm

Cub Buenning says:
The Lakers played a beautiful offensive game, working the triangle to perfection at times. The Nugs need Nene to take up that space that Pau was running wild through. Space that wouldn’t be there if Bynum was back. Trade the kid!

Apr.21 at 1:15 pm

Myles Brown says:
After 83 games of the same sh*t, I dont see Denver finally deciding to play defense. Or taking smart shots. And I certainly dont see George Karl outcoaching Big Chief Triangle.

Apr.21 at 1:17 pm

Myles Brown says:
Pau can extend to the elbow and stick the open jumper. More importantly, he’s just as good a passer as anyone on the roster and all Bynum will need to do is stay on the block and finish. Theyll be just fine.

Apr.21 at 1:29 pm

Cub Buenning says:
Myles, I agree on the whole, (i took the Lakers in 7) that the Show should beat the Nugs, but a sweep doesn’t seem likely against one of the league’s top home teams. Still worried long-term about the Lakers with both bigs. I LOVE PAU (for many reasons) but I just think he needs that room to operate (yes often out to the high post) that their current make-up allows. (feel free to record that)

Apr.21 at 1:44 pm

Myles Brown says:
I didnt initially have a sweep, but after yesterday, I changed 90% of my mind. There arent words that can appropriately capture just how bad that defense is. If they dont show up strong on Wednesday, then Im officially counting them out. They know what the problem is and dont seem committed to fixing it. If theyre gonna keep that pace they have to commit to transition D and defending the rim in the half court. But the Lakers move the ball too well for them.

Nugs will win one or two. This is the NBA. Maybe the answer is to opt out and go back to philly…

I know I will get mad hated on for saying this, but… if they traded Melo for a power forward who can bang down low they would get a lot better. Pre-injury Elton Brand or Jermaine O’Neal maybe?

Apr.21 at 2:46 pm

tealish says:
What: That’s actually brilliant. For Denver to contend, AI needs to be the undisputed top dog who doesn’t have to worry about Carmelo’s ego. With Melo’s size and athleticism, he should be a force on defense. Instead, he is perhaps the weakest link of that embarrasing arrangement of standstill players when they aren’t on offense.
Elton Brand would be an awesome fit for Denver. But of course, such a trade would never happen because “Melo is the franchise guy”…….

Holiday says:
Maybe there coaching is the problem and I’m not refering to the mosh pit, bring in Larry Brown to teach some defense to this team or try to lure Nellie, get that Offense really kicking!

If Nene can put up 25 and 10 and throw in a couple of blocks at over 50% from the field, sure

Apr.21 at 11:22 pm

Dacre says:
The key to remember regardless of whether the Nuggets learn defense sometime in the next 48 hours is that for the first time since horace / pippem era in chicago - Phil Jackson has two solid post up players for the offensive side down low and thats not even counting Kobe. It will be tough for ANYONE to beat the Lakers in 7 games this year.
