Anthony must be forgetting the year the Sixers went to the finals with Tom McCullough, Matt Geiger, and Eric Snow. They definitely didn’t need AI. They coulda beat the Lakers in the finals if it wasn’t for all that AI showboating. Friggin AI.
Sadly though, Iverson needing surgery means he’s not completely indestructible, as previously assumed. I look forward to next summer’s “Is Iverson showing his age?” stories, followed by another season of reckless drives, a 26 point average, and dozens of intricate cornrow patterns.
Jason says:
People are such followers…they listen to what the media says and goes with it. Anythony, look at the players stats of Denver before Iverson Iverson arrived and after…that should answer your logic. The fact that that man carried a team to the NBA Finals and made a ton of players on his teams look better then what they really are and still gets questioned truly boggles my mind. smh

You’re both welcome. It shouldn’t have been necessary to defend one of the great little men in the history of basketball but, hey, here we are.

I receieved an APRILS FOOL post in my email account saying that Dan Majerle was signed for the rest of the season to the Suns…haha…it had me!
It was just a lead up to the voting for the Majerle Hustle award that gets handed out each year…
I would STILL take Majerle over Gordon Girosick today.

the fact that ai is still averaging 26ppg is utterly amazing to me. but the way denver plays, and their line up, they should be winning more games. they have camby and kenyon! how can a team be bad at defense with those 2 players? don’t tell my melo doesn’t try on D.

Anthony is possibly the most overrated player in the L.
People always put him in the discussion of the best scorer in the NBA and that completely blows my mind. When it really matters, he has no moves, nothing at all.
He goes into the post, because I guess the commentators keep saying how “big and strong” he is, but the same thing happens each time. He backs in and backs in, turns into the defender (1 or 2), leans forward and forces up a double clutcher that has no chance of going in. As a Nugget fan, I can only hope for a foul to be called.
More often than not, however, the end result is either a block or a line drive off the backboard, followed by a disheartened trudging back down the floor.
