It’s as if the C-Webb Signing Never Happened

by Marcel Mutoni

The Golden State Warriors signed up Chris Webber in an effort to shore up their interior passing, and hoped he would bring some veteran leadership as the team scratched and clawed its way towards the postseason.

Webber, for his part, has delivered on none of the above. And now, it sounds as if the team doesn’t even want him back when he returns from injury.

With Chris Webber (sore left knee) missing his eighth straight game tonight and still nowhere near healthy, even Nelson is saying that Webber might not have a role on the team when - and if - he returns.

“It’s get more difficult the longer we go,” Nelson said. “We’re down the stretch drive now. We’ll probably have to play the way we’ve been playing.”

Picture C-Webb in a pool somewhere, taking a break from rehabbing his knee and reading that. Talk about depressing.

G-State continues to hold down the eighth and final Playoff spot, with Denver 1 1/2 games back.

I don’t know why teams gamble on this guy anymore. He’s becoming just another post season player ala Shaq.

It’s not really surprising… He was only playing around 10-14 minutes there anyway…

It was a good gamble. They’ve lost nothing for the attempt. Now CWeb can go back to the couch and the Warriors can keep playing ball the way the fans love it.

i never understood why Webber signed in the first place.. tarnishes a pretty good career, and for what? an 8th place team that only plays offense and has no shot in hell at contending?

He should’ve gone back to the Pistons at the beginning of the season instead of smoking weed during guest spots on Mz. Kitti’s XM radio show………….

The Pistons didnt want him back. And rightfully so, the guy used to be a great player but now he’s a scrub who wants “respect”(i.e. minutes) even though he cant defend/rebound any more. Plus, that little midrange jumper is a bout as flat as his vertical.

Honestly I wish Houston gives up their playoff spot. Out of everyone, they’re deffinitely the most boring to watch.. at least when compared to Denver, Golden State, Dallas, Phoenix, Lakers, Utah, New Orleans, etc. San Antonio is boring as hell but they have a rivalry with half those teams so they gotta stay too.

Hey Dennis Castro, you are so right about C Webb being the ultimate loser. I mean he got about 750K just to suit up for a handful of games and go to rehab. I mean what a huge loser. I hope to be a loser like him someday.

I think your all crazy-faced fools. C-Webb was a fine player. He was a 4 time allstar, he averaged 20.7 pts and 9.8 rebs and 4.2 assists for his career (and thats with this past year statistically). He was an exciting PF to watch through the Sacramento days and really lead the way with Vlade Divac. Sure, this season was perhaps a final shot at something exciting (and if he was there LAST YEAR they would have gotten through Utah, when the GSW needed a big man) and it failed. BUT C-Webb aint no punk B**CH. Much Respect.
