Brent Barry is a Spur once again
For 30 days, the San Antonio Spurs were without the best flatfooted three-point shooting former slam dunk contest champion of all-time. Now Brent Barry returns to them.
“I’m very happy and excited to be back with the Spurs,” Barry said. “There’s definitely some peace of mind that there’s some finality to this.
“My focus now is getting back in basketball shape and trying to contribute to what this team is trying to do.”
What a Spur. Was he going to be a difference maker on any other team? Probably not. I’m sure he won’t do much for San Antonio in the playoffs, except for the one time he’s red hot and he hits six threes in a big win, and then is never heard from again until the champagne cork is popped.

He can’t retire as a Seattle Supersonic anyway, plus as a (slight) journeyman, he never had a true “home.” Triple that for Jon Barry and his nose. Anyone remember the Spurs trade rumors not that long ago, when Russ or Lang said they were probably going to pick and choose some end of his tenure vet and gift him with a ring this year, damn why not Penny Hardaway with some final “Revenge!”

he shouldn’t be able to go back to spurs, as many others did. ridiculous. that being said, detroit has NO chance of winning this year and how bad are you guys waiting for the western playoffs?????

I like how Spurs called up NBA office when Dallas tried to “trade” Jerry Stackhouse over to Nets (that deal w/ J Kidd) and he publicly said that he’ll be back with the Mavs in 30 days after Nets buyout his contract. ESPN said a certain somebody called the NBA office and had that trade proposal blocked because it’s “not right” to trade away a player then get him back on the same team. Now look at what the Spurs did, right after they b1tched and whined, they did the exact same thing with Brent Barry to get Kurt Thomas from Seattle. Spurs are bunch of whiners and punks with one dominant player in Tim Duncan, that’s it.
