Good one Myles. Shaq always talks greasy. He was talking mad sh*t about turning the Heat around. We see what that was worth.

Might I paraphrase the great Kweli in saying “Got people scared to say when sh*t is wack, outta fear of being called a hater, imagine that! We aint havin that, blast your a** back to your natural habitat…”
Feb.7 at 4:10 pm
white hot eboy says:
Did Kweli mean “blast your a*s back” with keystrokes or bullet movement?

Kerr may not be a COMPLETE idiot….Nash/Bell/Shaq all expire the same year(2010), and LeBron/Bosh/Paul/Wade will all be FAs that summer, with PHX having a hell of a lot of capspace….

Shaq is a funny motherf*cker.

Keystrokes, for sure.

Krayzie Bone says:
What about a 3 man fast break? Hill and Diaw aren’t shaq, but they won’t win any track races with anyone in this league.

niQ says:
The Heat have been all talk in recent memory.. i remember wade telling us last play offs to not count the heat out.. then they lose 4 straight.. then riley says they only had a bad start.. and turns out they’re one of the bottom teams in the league now.. funny

neaorin says:
Seriously, what was he supposed to say? “Yeah, I know, I couldn’t believe Steve Kerr traded for me either. How you guys can live with him as your GM is beyond me.”
Feb.7 at 4:52 pm
Sam Rubenstein says:
“This is the Amaré Stoudemire Project for me. I look forward to making him the top power forward in the league.”
And so it is true… Amare is the Andy Garcia character from Godfather III. Has anyone else seen that movie?
Feb.7 at 5:09 pm
white hot eboy says:
Yes, Sam, it was horrid.
Feb.7 at 5:13 pm
Sam Rubenstein says:
what about the book that Mario Puzo didn’t even write? The recent one? It could be like that.

Reggie Evans says:
I don’t doubt that Shaq can be an effective player. And I don’t hate him because of his personality. I hate on him because of his lack of respect for the game, his lack of commitment to it. When I think of Shaq, I think of Ben Affleck talking to Matt Damon at the end of the movie Good Will Hunting: “You don’t owe it to yourself man, you owe it to me, ’cause tomorrow I’m gonna wake up and I’ll be 50, and I’ll still be doin’ this sh*t. And that’s all right. That’s fine. I mean, you’re sittin’ on a winnin’ lottery ticket. You’re too much of a p***y to cash it in, and that’s bullsh*t. ‘Cause I’d do f***in’ anything to have what you got. So would any of these f***in’ guys. It’d be an insult to us if you’re still here in 20 years. Hangin’ around here is a f***in’ waste of your time.” Except in Shaq’s case, “hanging around here” means staying out of shape, not working on free throws, not taking care of your body, not improving your game every single day, not trying to be the best baller that you can be.

The book was better than that abortion of a movie, honestly.

Sam, amare, after the trade said shaq was the best at his position and he
(amare) was the best at his, so someone better get those two on the same page before they start playing together
Feb.7 at 6:00 pm
Russ Bengtson says:
Neither Amare nor Shaq are the best at their respective positions.
Feb.7 at 6:24 pm
Reggie Evans says:
I agree with Russ.

Reggie Evans says:
Shaq said that Pau Gasol will “strive” in the triangle offense. Genius.

dp says:
i like reading the comments and finding out other peoples thoughts of the game, but some of the comments here are about judging shaq’s character, the way some of you guys comment on this thing, it’s like you guys have won 4 nba world championships and you actually know what it’s like to play in the L. i’m not saying i do either but until i know how feels to walk in those shoes i cant past judgement on a mans who has. as for not respecting the game, ok so he didn’t train his hardest or try to perfect his game, you hate him for that? i think most of the players in the L could possibly work harder to improve their game eg. carter but you can’t hate him for that, not everybody is jordan… or lebron because in all professional sports that’s what seperates the good from the great. but that’s what makes it entertaining… remember that at the end of the day it’s only entertainment there’s no need for hating.

jdubbs says:
Well when a guy makes $20 million and leads your team to a 9-37 record, let the hate begin.
But seriously, this is such an interesting move for the Suns. They were a Horry hip check away from winning the conf. finals last year and have the best record in the Western Conf. Big move

FLUXLAND says:
Reggie!! “I hate on him because of his lack of respect for the game, his lack of commitment to it.” That fits half the players in the L and INFURIATES ME!
But, dp is right… I wouldn’t appreciate the other half as much as I do if they all loved the game equally.
Feb.7 at 9:49 pm
Reggie Evans says:
@Dp, Flux - No not everyone is Jordan, or Lebron, or Kobe, but there are guys like Derek Fisher and Carlos Boozer who are pros, there are guys like Kyle Korver, shoot - Jason Kapono even (basically everyone who wasn’t a lottery pick, and is still in the league, although I’m sure you guys can find the exceptions), guys who have maxed out their potential, or work towards it as a goal. And although Shaq has won 4 titles, he might as well be Kwame Brown for all of his untapped potential.

F#U$RITE*BAK** says:
Russ N Reggie, uh, yea, talking can prove nothing but Nash, Bell, Hill, Stoudemire, O’Neil? No fastbreak, maybe not like it use to but have you seen our offense? now imagine a brick wall in the lane… yea once they get started you guys will eat your words.

Reno says:
I dont know guys, I think that the Suns could benefit from this trade, you put Shaq and Amare under that ring, offensively and defensively its a guaranteed rebound, and while they may have a slight problem on the no 3 position with Hill old legs its still good to rack up points on the 1st half…
Feb.8 at 12:26 am
Reno says:
Oh and they should add Bowen to the Suns roster, and change their name into “Kobe’s best friends”
Feb.8 at 12:40 am
Dacre says:
In all fairness I make trades like this with my SUNS roster on NBALive all the time…right now?…My 8th year with ‘dynasty’ mode - Nash retired last year….I have Deron Williams and a 37 year old Kevin Garnett. It’s all good.

I respect Shaq’s came and i love his personilty but i find it insane for anyone to mention the Showtime Lakers when it comes to the Suns yes they were a run and gun team and have been the closest thing to Magic,Worthy,Cooper,Scott with out Kareen since the Showtime Lakers but come on that is way to far fetched for a pg who can get beat by more than half of the pg’s in league and by a team that isnt half as good as the lakers were and fine with shaq there they can still try to run and gun and hope for the same results but by no means are they close or will ever be close the Lakers . Shaq now provides a hope that on the defensive end they can make stops and to make Amare a better player on the block by default(not saying amare is not good)and yes raja will provide defense and a jimmy..and diaw well he is your everything man with either hill or him coming off the bench …you have a good team here except for the fact that when they play chris paul and his hornets nash cant keep up with him and they way chandler moves and rebounds it will be a challenge for shaq..and david west outside all day against amare is a good look for them as well….and when the suns play the lakers bynum who is not even close to his potential yet will play shaq hard and will give him his problems and vice versa but raja can not stop kobe and guess what kobe can shut down mr nash..and gasol maybe soft to most but im sure he wont dissapoint with no pressure on him to be the man anymore…i mean i love shaq like the rest but this has the potential to fail just as much as it is to succeed ..now if they had marion there with shaq then shiit its all fair game but mr. shaq may never get number 5-6
Feb.8 at 1:24 pm
Reggie Evans says:
Actually, if Shaq does well, it will only prove my point that Shaq has only intermittently committed himself to the game of basketball. If he doesn’t, he was still a slacker before his game deteriorated. So, yes, I hate, and no he can’t win in my eyes.

FLUXLAND says:
Reggie… EXACTLY! If he’s been halfassing it this whole time it will only make me lose even more respect for him. Dude can’t win here either. I effing hate players like that…please do not get me started on Carter. That guy should be banned from the L.

Everyone knows this is a ‘win now’ move. Miami paid for a championship and got one. They knew Shaq would not be for the long term, and also knew they’d have to carry Shaq’s contract for a couple of dead weight (pun intended) years. Marion wanted out, probably wouldn’t re-sign, so it makes sense. All Shaq has to do is get through 1 1/2 more seasons then his contract becomes tradable because $20M will come off the books the following year. Worst case, they keep him and become the team with the most cap space in the free agent bonanza in 2010. All of this while actually having a decent shot at winning a ring this year. Granted, Shaq doesn’t fit their style, but in the playoffs they need some half court to get through SA. Not convinced Hill is going to hold up - but Kerr has made an understandable and potentially savvy move. Everybody killed Riles for the Shaq move this year (despite it being all good when they won the chip) but he has proven to be smarter than the average fan. Miami dump shaqs contract, have a shot at Marion resigning, have 2 all stars on their roster with a lottery pick coming in next year. Welcome to NBA 101.
