According to Hornets coach Byron Scott, if the immortal Birdman is reinstated, New Orleans could use him.

If the Birdman comes back half as strong as his NBA Live ‘06 doppelganger, New Orleans wins the whole thing.

Anybody else find it weird that the nicknames for Andersen and Chris Paul are connected so much to the New Orleans rap scene. I mean, the whole “Birdman” moniker comes from Baby of Cash Money as does the little sign that Andersen used to throw up. Paul is now called CP3, which is what Master P used to used to designate his affiliation with the Calliope projects in the city’s Third Ward. What’s weird is that both terms were originally used in negative ways and then became mainstream nicknames used by announcers. Baby’s nickname related to his ability to acquire large quantities of cocaine (seriously), while Paul’s nickname is related to one of the city’s most notorious projects. It’s weird how stuff like that happens. Sorry for the long comment.

Allen, didnt chris Andersen have the Birdman nikname b4 going to new-orleans?? I think he already had it in Denver.. And if he’s in shape the Hornets should definetly sign him, as should any playoff bound team looking for some toughness inside and/or good-priced weed.

I thought CP3 was initials + number.

well a lot of initials+number nicknames have other meanings too — see CB4 or AK47 for example

We can hardly call Birdman and JR ‘Dunk Champs’

Allenp says:
Nah, Andersen wasn’t the Birdman in Denver. At least I don’t think so, I could be wrong. And that sign he makes with his hands and that noise he makes with his mouth come straight from Baby.

Allenp says:
I think the willingness to use CB4 and Ak47 is weird too. I mean, the promotion of weapons surely isn’t what the NBA would like to see, right?

Actually, he got the name Birdman even before he was in Denver, playing in the D league.
