Antoine Walker Wants His Freedom, Too
Sam Cassell has hogged all of the “Unhappy Vet Wants to Leave Crummy Team and Join a Contender” headlines of late, but let’s not forget that Antoine Walker and his shimmy are discussing a buyout with the T-Wolves.
Forward Antoine Walker still hopes he and the team can come to an agreement on a buyout that would allow him to clear waivers and join another team by March 1. “We’re talking, both sides,” Walker said. “We’re trying to figure out a number that will work for both sides.”
Say what you will about ‘Toine, and I’ve said plenty, but the fact remains that he could actually help a Playoff-bound team.
And sure, he may take one shot (or six) too many from time to time, but he has plenty of postseason experience, and veteran presence in the locker room at this time of year is more valuable than crude oil.

Walker needs to realize that there’s a difference between buying out same Cassell’s final 2 months of his contract and buying out the remainding 4 years and $32 million plus remaining on Toine’s contract. Unless hes willing to give up 3/4’s of that, he needs to stay his a** on that horrible T-Wolves team.

wrote this in the other thread but.. i gotta say i’m not feelin all these stupid ask-for-a-buyout-and-resign-with-a-contender moves. occasionally a buyout makes sense, but half of these DON’T make sense to the original team at all.. its jus doing these vets a favour, and i don’t think anything calls for that unless these players have played on the original squad for 10+ years and actually deserve a chance to leave and play for a contender. Toine? definitely doesn’t deserve f*ck all. Cassell? maybe, but please - don’t act like the team owes it to you.

The only missing piece in Spurs is a spot up shooter. they went for Korver, but Jazz landed him . If the Spurs got Corver, and pulled the Thomas deal, I think they would be hard to beat..
