Also traded: Juan Dixon for Primoz Brezec

The Pistons and Raptors - who could possibly see each other in the playoffs - made a trade. Is it as exciting as all of the big name trades of late? No, it is not. The Krista Jahnke blog linked to suggests this opens the door for the return of Dale Davis. My head is spinning.

I like this trade as a Toronto fan. Brezec is an upgrade over Rasho.

All thats left to do now is trade Bosh and TJ for Neded Kristic and Boki Nachbar.

Dale f*cking Davis!

yeah vmcb, but where’s Rasho going to go? the only difference is the shooting range and some more offensive moves, but thats not every helpful when your center isn’t a consistent scoring option

TheMC5 says:
Brezec is not an upgrade over Rasho. Rasho can at least defend, whereas Brezec is like a homeless man’s Bargnani minus the 3-point ability. I predict we’ll see precious little of Brezec, for which I am thankful. I’m glad to be rid of Dixon, though. Watching him try to run the point was almost as painful as watching Darrick Martin. Almost.

oh and Von Wafer was traded for Taurean Green. I have to go home now.

My buddy named his fantasy team “Von Wafer.” I thought it was a snack food.

Dizzle says:
This wasn’t exactly a blockbuster trade, but it did make a bit of sense for the Raps. Useless guard who was too small for a useless centre. They just traded useless for useless but they got size at least.

I get my von wafers from the boki snackbar on the corner.

Juan Dixon has been an eleventh man since he left Maryland, right? Looks like he’ll be right there with Detroit too. AttaDixon.

can anybody remind me why the Pistons traded for Brezec in the 1st place?

Feb.21 at 7:45 pm

Skillet Forilla says:
because they were trading Nazr Mohammed so that he could get minutes with another team. The Pistons also picked up Walter Herrmann in the deal.

ok

Ro says:
so what are the Pistons plans for Herrmann again? The Raptors had interest in Walter before he got traded to Detroit. Dumars stole him and Primo away just to plant them on the end of the bench.

This has to be the most uninteresting trade I’ve heard of this year.

A boring trade, although it makes sense. The real nugget of justice, as some has mentioned, is that D squared could see action again. Gotta love the bodyguard.

Nobody thinks much of this deal, and compared to the other deals that have went down the past few weeks,it isnt very signifigant. But it will help Detroit a lot more than it wiil Toronto.Having Juan will help keep Chauncey fresh, which is a must come playoff time.

I like this trade for the Raps, Dixon wasn’t doing sh*t and Primoz adds so much need height in the paint.

Holy Baller made me laugh hard. For real, man. Will either of these guys play a minute that matters this year?

I doubt he plays any minutes.

man i wish raps would have got hermann in this deal

Having Juan will help keep Chauncey fresh? As a Raps fan I liked Juan but he cant play the point, hes a shooter..so how will that keep Chauncey fresh? You obviously hadn’t seen Juan trying to backup Calderon when TJ was hurt..If the Pistons wanted someone to keep Chauncey fresh they shouldn’t have let the Raps steal Delfino in the off-season, because now with Juan gone and TJ questionable for tonight at least, Delfino can easily back up Calderon and be more successful than Juan because it comes naturally to Carlos…With this trade you could still start Bargnani at the 5 and then if hes not doing anything, take him out and you could play him at the PF when Bosh comes out. Bargnani just has to work on attacking the basket more and being agressive. He cant be a centre and rely on his three-point shooting, hes got to play low-post. He is getting better at attacking and decidion making, and he isn’t travelling everytime he takes his first step (that drove me CRAZY)…This may not have been a huge trade, but what team doesn’t want another 7 footer. And if Primoz doesn’t work out the Raps only have his contract to the end of the season.

Rod Strickland says:
Juan Dixon will be like the 6th player over the last five years to join the Pistons after getting dumped by the Wizards. Rip, ‘Sheed, Ben Wallace, Webber, Jarvis Hayes,…

dumb move for Toronto. P R I M O suck

walt padubney says:
i don’t get it for TO. They give Detroit a guy that will probably help them a bit, and get a guy they’ll never play.
The fact that they could have had Fabio is only more salt in the wound. …And Rasho already calls Brezec ’subPrimo’ so you know. They’ve been teammates for years. That’s a lot of milk money changing hands.
(definitely not goat though)

Slovenian Girl says:
Brezec is a great player! Some coaching issues and health issues, but still there’s no denying: In 2004-05 Brezec averaged career highs of 13.0 points and 7.4 rebounds, finishing second on the team in both categories. He shot .512 from the field (14th in the NBA) and finished fourth in NBA Most Improved Player Award voting.
