Worthy of Your Attention

by Marcel Mutoni

In celebration of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day, the League has a ton of games going throughout the day. Let’s take a look at the most intriguing matchups.

Pistons @ Magic: Orlando has a dream. A dream to beat the Pistons. Unlike Mr. King’s dream, this one will probably not come to fruition anytime soon.

Bulls @ Grizzlies: Someone keep Sam Smith away from this game, please. He might just kidnap Pau Gasol.

(Also: TNT’s schedule-makers must be repeatedly punching themselves in the face for having put this game - featuring two woefully underachieving squads - on the docket.)

Nuggets @ Lakers: LA almost has to win this one, don’t they? With injuries threatening to completely derail the season, a win against an elite team like Denver would do wonders for the Lakers’ morale (to say nothing of their fans.)

Magic will probably beat the Pistons today since Detroit seems to be going thru one of their yearly lulls right now. The Nuggets may throttle the Lakers today.

This is not a must-win for the Lakers… Denver’s a top powerhouse in the west, shouldn’t the easy teams be the MUST WIN situations for the Lakers?

I love A.I. but I would not be suprised if they lost tonight. They barely beat Minny at home last night! Kobe might try to go off tonight. Maybe 65pts and you Denver doesn’t play D

Haven’t we beaten Denver twice already this year, including once in absolute rout? Who gives a sh-t if we win this game, missing our starting and back-up center, our best shooter, and our most athletic player?

although the Bulls and Grizz are pretty ugly to watch, it’s become a tradition to air a game from Memphis on MLK day, regardless of how the team is playing, really…
