Trade Demand: Jason Kidd
This has been brewing all season long. It began with whispers that Jason was upset with the Nets because they had yet to grant him a contract extension; there was the infamous migraine game against the Knicks; and now this: Jason Kidd’s agent, Jeff Schwartz, has reportedly asked the Nets to move the ageless point guard to a contending team before the trade deadline.
The reality of the matter is that it will be nearly impossible to get equal value back for Kidd, thereby making the trade request almost moot.
“Right now things are going very poorly for us,” Thorn said, without specifically addressing the Kidd conundrum. “Historically, those are the times when you don’t get offered what you might consider fair deals. And sometimes you feel that maybe you should do something to do something, but those are the times you have to be very cognizant and careful about what the results of your actions might be.”
New Jersey is stuck between a hard and a hard place: They’re terrible with Jason Kidd on the floor; they’re even worse off with him in a different uniform. There’s no easy solution here.
Though some are saying Kidd could be making a return to the Western Conference when the dust settles, all one knows for sure is that pro basketball relevancy again in the New York/New Jersey area is a long ways away.

It’s very difficult, yes, to trade JKidd. However, as you get closer to the trade deadline, the real interesting and enticing offers start to come. I’m still hopeful Kidd will find a winning team, and the Nets get a reasonable price for him. If the Clippers weren’t so bad, I’d advocate Kidd for Kaman. But there’s no way Kidd would go to the lesser team in town.

Rod Thorn needs to make his statement clearer. If he can’t get what he wants he should just come out and say ‘We can’t get sh*t for Kidd and I’m not pleased’.

It’d be funny if Kidd gets traded to Western Conference team before the All Star game. Would they still allow him to start for Eastern Conference team?
Jan.28 at 10:23 am
Ryne Nelson says:
No sir, Ryan. That would be tight as hell, but there’s no way NJ takes Z in return….Now if Cleveland gave up Drew and Z, that would be a suitable offer. Yet, that would put Cedris Simmons up as the starting C. It’s a legistical nightmare, like Marcel said.

I know this won’t happen - but pleeeeaaaaase go to the Lakers!

Right?! It would be another Iverson situation if he gets dealt to another conference…And then yet another undeserving Eastern G will make the team and another deserving Western G won’t.

As a matter of fact, I think it is likely JKidd will get dealt before the deadline. I’ve emailed Peter Vescey who’s got a pretty good inside with the team, and he says the Nets are pretty much set on dealing their boy before the deadline. Not like he’s the final say, by any means, but I got to trust the word from someone…sometime!

Why would Nets trade for Kwame Brown, Vlad Radmanovic and Javaris Crittenton??? First of all, all 3 players are pure garbage and do salaries even match?

Javaris could actually turn out to be pretty good.

Jan.28 at 1:06 pm
G Diesel says:
Kwame Brown could be a great back-up for Nenad Krstic and Jamal Magloire. Javaris has a good future in this league. Radmanovic could be a great outside shooter for the Nets. And finally Luke Walton… I just want him out of L.A. He’s one of the main reasons we’re on a 3 game losing skid!

kidd back to dallas for stack & dampier?
Jan.28 at 2:24 pm
rav says:
i think if kidd gets traded to the west then the guard with the next highest number of votes would start for the east, but he would start over iverson in the west as he has more votes - similar thing happened with iverson last year when he got traded cause when the voting started he was a sixer, but not sure if the rule still stands after asg voting finishes

UKSuperstar says:
I think JKidd should just be happy with his salary and stay at NJ with Jefferson and Carter. If he had to move teams then he would probably be best off at Miami, to take the pressure off Wade at the backcourt. Kidd would also add glue to the Heat that Shaq has provided the last few years. My first thought.

Funny you should say that…
Jan.28 at 3:56 pm
Russ Bengtson says:
No way he gets dealt to the Cavs. Kidd’s making $19 million, which means the deal would have to start with either Z (which I can’t imagine the Cavs doing) or Hughes (which I can’t imagine the Nets doing). Dallas is weird because they’d almost certainly have to take back Dampier, who has FOUR years left on his deal at $10+ million per. And the Nets already have Collins, Magloire and Boone. I can’t see a Dallas deal happening unless there was a third team involved. Lakers? Kidd for Kwame, Vlad Rad, Ariza and Crit works under the dap, but who the heck would play center until the return of the prodigal Bynum?

Russ Bengtson says:
Or even under the CAP.
Jan.28 at 4:11 pm

russ, i think the mavs can do a sign and trade with van horn to make the numbers match up - only the first of the 3 years has to be guaranteed, and it could even be pro-rated

if nets can get josh howard plus either harris or terry, it’s probably worth the trade. how richardson and howard co-exist, i’m not sure. dallas seems to be the team with enough assets to make the trade worth it for nets, and they will have a clear cut leader with a dominant personality to put them over the top.
Jan.28 at 6:47 pm
hursty says:
dude wants to go to a contender, you cant just send him to dallas or phx or boston because of the cap, its not nba live. houston could do it if they put up skip, luther head and a forward like novak.

Ben says:
If the Nets do trade Kidd they will never get eqal value for him so they may as well admit that their rebuilding and trade Vice too. If they don’t they’ll be so bad that they’ll never make the playoffs but nort so bad that they’ll get a good draft pick. Trading all or most of the big three builds for the future by getting the Nets young players and good draft picks.

Wait a year on any major Dallas trades. The Mavs still think they can win with what they’ve got.

Kidd and Boki Snacks to the Nugs for Kenyon, Najera and Chucky Atkins. It works. Not interested in Kidd on the Bulls, they already have enough dudes who can’t shoot. Cleveland ain’t happening unless the Nets take Hughes, and there’s no way in hell they do that.

Sorry Russ but that Dallas trade wouldn’t work. quite frankly, both Collins and Armstrong can’t match the experience of Dampier and Stackhouse (they’ve won championships). Kidd doesn’t justify the trade.

KIDD to lakers for Kwame Brown, Lamar Odom, a few draft picks, and if new jersey still arent satisfied, Chris Mihm as well, the lakers dont need them, and the trio of Kidd Kobe and Bynum would definitley make them a contender

SLAM ONLINE | » Jason Kidd Officially Wants Out of New Jersey says:
[…] After initially denying the story, as has become his custom over the last couple of years, Kidd relented yesterday afternoon and admitted that he’s asked his agent to work out an exit plan. “I’m not mad at anybody,” he said Monday afternoon by phone. “Sometimes, when you ride a wave, you get to the end and that’s all there is. That’s where we are.” […]
