Ron Artest to the Knicks: ‘I Can Save You’
If you’re the sort that roots for the Knicks - poor you - I surely hope you’re not anticipating 2008 to be much different than the previous year. Things will not change. The team is still going to be terrible, coach Zeke isn’t leaving anytime soon, and your savior in waiting is … Ron Artest?
Yes. Ron-Ron, who has made a habit of talking about wanting to join this depressing lot, thinks he can save the Knicks from themselves and wouldn’t oppose a trade to the Big Apple.
“Anywhere I go, I can turn things around, given the opportunity,” Artest said. “I definitely would not be opposed to it if that is my calling. I would not be opposed if something would happen [with the Knicks]. But I just want to win a championship.”
Though his tough-as-nails defense would certainly help the squad, unless he can also perform exorcisms, Artest cannot save the Knicks. I’m not sure anyone can really. Besides, rumors continue to swirl that the Miami Heat are still very interested in Ron’s services.
For what it’s worth, Isiah says the team isn’t looking to make any moves before the trade deadline, because you know, everything is just rosy in the World’s Most Shameless.

They shouldn’t trade Balkman either.Get rid of the rest and keep; Lee, Nate, Jamal, Balkman and bring Stef off the bench in the second and forth Quarters, to close it out. he always works harder in the final minutes. but definitely get rid of CURRY, that kid is a sometime y bum.

If the Knicks traded 2/3 of their players for fresh produce and replaced Isiah Thomas with a water buffalo they’d be a better team. It’s reached the point that there’s hardly anything they could do that would make the team worse, barring trading all their bigs for shoot-first point guards, or vice-versa. I hope they get stomped by Sacto tonight.

LAN, I was saying that he was the East Coach one year when he coached the Pacers. I clearly remember Artest losing a series for them after throwing a temper tantrum at the end of one of the games. Also, I think one year J.O. had family issues and got injured. Russ should give him a break about coaching in Indy. It’s not like they were ever 8 - 22.

At least the drama off the court is entertaining. The Knicks are a run away hit for reality TV. Throw a bunch of crazy people on an island (or a garden) and see all hell break loose. And as the laws of reality TV goes, the biggest trouble maker never gets voted off until the end. Too bad the fans can’t vote players off their own teams. Don’t you wish Simon Cowell could do the play-by-play?
