Note to NBA Fans: Stop Talking to LeBron

by Marcel Mutoni

For the second time this season, some jagoff in the front row thought it was a good idea to talk smack to ‘Bron in the second half of a tightly contested game. You can probably guess the outcome.

After getting swatted a couple of times, and hearing it from the crowd (and specifically, from some frizzy-haired dude sitting courtside), LeBron hit three straight bombs (making sure to stare down the heckler after each make) and split the entire Blazers defense as he waltzed in for the game-winning layup.

Said James in his post-game sideline interview:

“(The fan) cost his team the home-court advantage … It’s all in good fun. I’m here to entertain and help my team win the game.”

He’s the game’s best closer this season, and the Cavs have the most come-from-behind victories as a result.

At this point, it’s probably not even a good idea to make eye contact with the man in the fourth quarter.

The best way to get back at the hecklers - score some d*mn baskets.

jagoff?! haaahha Mutoni, you make me laugh.

Krayzie Bone says:
Also worth mentioning: NBA’s top ten daily plays are getting weaker as the season goes on. There were 3-4 legit candidates, and the rest were pretty questionable. Tomorrow we’ll have Steve Nash with the freethrow: look at the form!!!!

Keith says:
I’ll repeat what I said on another thread “Lebron is Jordan-esque when it comes to fans heckling him”. Learn people, learn.

Tarzan Cooper says:
he had a nice clear path to the rim for the game winner. with such defense, bill walton is rolling over in his grave.

Jan.31 at 11:04 am

Ryan Jones says:
What would be dope is if some team could convince their fans to be completely silent whenever LeBron had the ball, and he only scored like 3 points in a 40-point loss. Could it be so easy?

Jan.31 at 11:04 am

Keith says:
In short, no.

Jan.31 at 11:09 am

Krayzie Bone says:
Ask the nets, they play to crowds like that on a nightly basis (piped in crowd noise - the nba, where snoozing happens). Of course there is the motivation of beating up on Vince “pretend Jordan” Carter.

Jan.31 at 11:13 am

Captain America says:
Bron does not need no outside motivation. He says Kobe is best.

Jan.31 at 11:14 am

Captain America says:
Cavs need to get deep in playoffs for any comparison with MJ.

Jan.31 at 11:17 am

Keith says:
You don’t think ‘Bron’s reaction and ability to perform when heckled is slightly Jordan-esque? How about his unbelievable stregth and ability to finish when being fouled hard?

Jan.31 at 11:18 am

Russ Bengtson says:
Shouldn’t the Cavs plant someone at every road game specifically to taunt LeBron? Wouldn’t that be an easy way to, you know, win the rest of their games. And CA, the Finals isn’t deep into the playoffs?

Jan.31 at 11:23 am

Keith says:
Lebron is overrated. The guy needs someone to heckle him in order to perform.

Jan.31 at 11:25 am

Lz - Cphfinest3 says:
Cap America, the Cavs wasn’t deep in the playoffs last year?

Jan.31 at 11:25 am

Lz - Cphfinest3 says:
Ups, Russ already said that.

ends says:
Now could he take a punch in the stands of detroit, like ron-ron. I dont think so. Talkin’ crap to fans in Toronto and Portland - home of hard core gangsta rapper the Professor. Oh Bay-beee!

Jan.31 at 11:26 am

Lz - Cphfinest3 says:
And Keith if anything LeBron is underrated.

Jan.31 at 11:38 am

Keith says:
I stand by my point. The guy isn’t even averaging a triple double.

Jan.31 at 12:08 pm

Dizzle says:
@Keith: Isn’t averaging a triple double? I guess it’s only been about a trillion years since the last person averaged a triple double. I guess close doesn’t count

Esco says:
Some people don’t get sarcasm…

Jan.31 at 12:27 pm

Spaceship Jay says:
Dizzles right! Give Lebron a break. Lol sarcasm is always best when not understood.
Bengtson’s idea is in-genius

Phil B says:
that drove me crazy last night. i’m a huge portland fan, but once lebron started getting angry and making threes, i knew it was over. portland had been doing this to teams all year (without the greatest player on our team) so it was due to happen to them.

Jan.31 at 12:35 pm

Dizzle says:
What the hell is sarcasm?

Jan.31 at 12:38 pm

Dizzle says:
Actually I didn’t read Keith’s previous comment. Sorry dude. I guess I’m like the frizzy haired dude (a damn fool)

Jan.31 at 2:02 pm

Paniscus says:
watching portland a lot this year, it seems like we the team can both overcome AND lose any lead. it makes things exciting, but it sucks too. guess that’s what’s up with youth.

Jan.31 at 2:14 pm

Ryne Nelson says:
Portland is still a young team. They’re also not going for a chip this season…and may actually pull of a deal to load up for the future. The Blaze will only continue to improve, and will no longer have these issues in ensuing seasons.

Jan.31 at 2:30 pm

its just alex says:
Watching LeBron interact with fans is fantastic. I was at the Knicks *cough*/Cavs game at MSG in December. Some fan screamed “you suck” while LeBron was talking to Spike Lee. Seemed innocuous to most, but Bron looked directly at the guy said “Ok, Ok” and then drained a three in front of the guy’s seat about 10 seconds later and stared him down.

Jan.31 at 2:37 pm

underdog says:
That was BIG mistake by the defensive team, and Brandon Roy. But Cavs won, and I can’t argue with that…

Jan.31 at 2:42 pm

John E. Sanford says:
@Mike: It’s been proven that Michael Jordan is incapable of judging basketball talent. Just look at his GM track record.

Jan.31 at 2:46 pm

Spaceship Jay says:
Someone from the Cavs needs to hire Joe Pecsi to heckle Lebron through-out the season. 63 points, 32 rebounds, 7 blocks, and 19 assist a game.

Jan.31 at 3:42 pm

drew says:
when will people learn?

Jan.31 at 3:56 pm

sjeezy says:
im lovin this, as a fan and a basketball purist i love this more than anything, young guns like me should learn from this, when someone talks smak bout ya game, shut him up with your game, not your mouth. LEBRON BIG BIG BIG UPPSSSS TO YOU MAN. KEEP ON SHUTTING THE HATERS UP.

Jan.31 at 5:41 pm

Jordan Hagedorn says:
LeBron is amazing.
Surround him with some more talent please.
They need to find him a Pippen because LHughes is mediocre.

Jan.31 at 5:50 pm

Ryne Nelson says:
Bron’s so hard to find a complementary player because of his supreme ability. Can anyone other star than Kidd co-exist successfully in Cleveland?

Jan.31 at 6:01 pm

James says:
Mike Bibby

Jan.31 at 6:16 pm

Balling NZ says:
Bron took Roy to school in the 4th. Hughes is unbelieveably sh*t

Jan.31 at 6:37 pm

Russ Bengtson says:
What LeBron needs in a complementary player is a lockdown defender that can handle twos and threes (to ease his load on the defensive end), and who’s a deadeye spot-up three point shooter. Basically, Bruce Bowen from five years ago. Although I’d imagine he’d settle for a deadeye three-point shooter. They should just try and coax Reggie Miller out of retirement. Could he be worse than Larry Hughes?

Jan.31 at 6:40 pm

Reggie Evans says:
Where’s the reporting about when Lebron doesn’t deliver after being heckled? Has it never happened? I’ve never seen the headline “HECKLER CAUSES CAVS TO LOSE”.

Jan.31 at 7:00 pm

Mike says:
Reggie: That’s because the more appropriate headline during those times is “LEBRON’S TEAMMATES CAUSE CAVS TO LOSE”

Jan.31 at 7:04 pm

Jordan Hagedorn says:
I’d rather have Reggie out of retirement than Hughes. Especially because he finally fixed those nasty teeth! Russ…get at me we got some business to talk, you’d like what I have to say I assure you. Has to do with Tinker, Sig Shoes, and Kicks Mag.

Jan.31 at 9:08 pm

RedRum says:
“LeBron James will be an average NBA player.”
-Michael Jordan Did he really say that?? well.. I guess that is expected from a man that he talent evaluation made him draft Kwame as no1…

Jan.31 at 10:34 pm

Miles Luke says:
Please keep talking mess to Lebron so he can do you just like he did the blazers. The blazers should kick dude out for the rest of the season.
