Could Gilbert Sit the Season Out?
It’s certainly a possibility.
Gilbert Arenas, who’s been out of the Wizards’ lineup since mid-November with a gimpy left knee, says he’s really focused on getting fully healthy and depending on how well the team continues to play, he might not return at all this season.
“If we have a chance to go far in the playoffs with me playing, I’ll say yeah,” Arenas said. “If not, then I’ll go ahead and shut it down. See ya.”
This is actually quite a wise decision by Gilbert; there’s absolutely no reason why he should rush back to the court. He is seeking a contract extension in the summer after all.
The Wizards, to their credit, have gone 14-10 without Gilbert, but it’ll certainly be interesting to see if they can squeeze into the postseason without their biggest star (and how that affects his comeback).

I hope he sits out the next seven seasons….The guy is a bum

He should sit out which means he won’t. He’ll rush back like all the athletes do in an effort to prove how tough they are. He needs to take the remainder of the year and come back 100% as opposed to the 65% he’ll probably come back at this season.

Caron Butler has been playing out of his mind since Gil went down. He needs to just chill. Rushing back is what got him hurt this time.

Arenas is good that’s for sure but his team is doing pretty good without him especially Caron and Antwan he dosen’t need to come back yet

Arenas is right: if his knee isn’t 100%, he shouldn’t come back. Of course I would love to see him play again this season, but his career is more important than just one season.

sorry bout that what. mike shut up, unless you can offer something half-decent in ur post. Gil will come back, his desire to compete is too strong, besides he would run out of jack Nicholson and denzel wahington movies. caron and antwan are doing awesome right now, they are still a huge 2 headed monster, and antonio daniels is an excellent sub 4 gil at the point.

Trade him. Honestly, trade him. Jamison and Caron are doing so friggin’ good… why do they need Gil takin’ all the shots? Give him to the Knicks for Curry and a guard of your choice. Washington gets a post presence who wont have any pressure on him, so he can perform, and the Knicks will get a guy who can actually ball and will hit shots and he’ll live in New York, it’s all good.

Sorry I just wish he would shut his mouth and play basketball instead of constantly talking himself up….it just gets a little old

its all right but try and offer something information wise etc, while expressing ur opinion, ur not as bad as Tarzan Cooper though so its all good. but yeh he does talk a lot, but its funny and what else would u do if u cant play and u get paid to do what u love.

hey…quite teaching the kid how to leave comments?! Why not say Gil is a bum? He jacked up half a million shots in the pre-season, all but wrecked his shooting touch and he is too busy fiddling around with that lame cartoon of himself?!
I say trade him….yes to Boston, for their 1st round draft pick.

I love how Gil said earlier that he should get MVP if he can do what he does and lead his team to 50 wins…. I say if he sits out the season and they get 45 wins trade him…. Gil is worth 5 wins which = bum.

This is the same guy that said “if I lead my team to 50 wins, I should be MVP hands down”. His team is on track to win 50 games WITHOUT him…does that make him the LVP?

Gil knos his body well enough that if hes not ready to come back he won’t. he’s not gonna make the same mistake twice. And to eryone who says they wish gil would just shut up and play– first off, gil wouldnt be gil if he didnt talk stuff up. he loves the game, hes a fan of the game, therefore hes gonna talk about the game like we do. i dont kno about yall, but it just wouldnt be the same if gil stopped talking like he does. think about it–what would u have to complain about then?

I was rooting for Dacre telling off Hursty until he mentioned a Boston trade. I say from now on, mentioning possible trade scenerios to Boston should result in a ban.

daniels is definitely a good pick up, hes top 5 in assist to turnover ratio, good 3 ball shooter, he also rebounds pretty well for a point. also what makes you believe that mike is a kid dacre?, regardless its all good now.

People must be out of their minds if they think that Gil should not return because of the teams’ sucsess without him. Gil is not just a great player, he’s a smart player. I know that Gil has been looking at this entire team effort and is seeking to put or add to the sucsess that is needed for the Wizards. No question about it, Gilbert Arenas is needed and would be welcome with open arms to the club.
