Worthy of Your Attention

by Marcel Mutoni

It’s snowy and miserable here in Ottawa, so I plan on spending a lot of time getting re-acquainted with my couch this weekend. Here are some matchups that I’ll be tuning it to and that you shouldn’t miss out on …

Houston @ New Jersey (Tonight, 7:30pm EST): Jason Kidd makes his return to the lineup; how will the home fans respond? Something to keep an eye on. Also, T-Mac has been on a tear of late and has the Rockets back on track. Plus, the T-Mac vs. Vince matchup is always fun.

Utah @ Dallas (Saturday, 8:30pm EST): In an attempt to reverse-jinx themselves, the Mavs say they don’t care about the regular season too much, and the results are obvious (12-8). As for Utah, Carlos Boozer recently suggested a similar approach towards the regular season during a team meeting, but the idea never really gained any traction because as the words began to escape Booz’s lips, Jerry Sloan slowly and menacingly unveiled a weapon similar to the cattle gun in No Country for Old Men.

Sunday: As a fan, it is my duty to catch the Warriors/Lakers tilt, but most of my energies will be focused on the Steelers/Patriots war in Foxborough. Go Steelers!

Just so someone else can’t have that ‘first’ (and highly overrated) moment.

so the utah/spurs game tonight isn’t worth watching? it’s old school ball at its best.
i’m also interested in warriors blowing out the heat tonight. last year wade had a few SPECTACULAR MOVES!! (as Marv would say) duing heat’s visit to the Bay. wade’s physically incapable of making those same moves right now, and shaq is just incapable of moving. he’s going to be extra-ineffective tonight. i wish riley would just play him through foul trouble. what’s the point of benching him every 3 minutes?

Don’t for get the Yao vs. Jason collins matchup. There’s beef there. And the boston snackbar’s bitterness towards his former team. could get intense…

Spurs get more hair raisingly biased calls. It’s aggrivating.

i almost felt bad for the heat, the jazz/spurs game was good, i had a strong feeling before the game tht spurs were gonna pull this one, & they did. o yea Lakers are bringing out the retros against the warriors, its been like 3 years, Phil blames the bad performances on the retros & said that the guys look like “little fairies” out there, im jus hopin` they get the work done.

First off, I’d trade 125 degree heat for your girly snow any day of the week. I’m still using the AC! Secondly, I don’t know why everyone hates the Pats. I admit that Rodney Harrison can be a bit of an arrogant pr*ck in interviews, but they are a hell of a lot of fun to watch. I could watch Randy Moss make impossible one-handed catches for days. And the Titans-Chargers matchup looks good. I’ll try to sandwich Barca-Deportivo in between that game and the Steelers-Pats showdown. Much like Ryan, I find it difficult to get too excited about the NBA before the new year at least, especially when teams admit to not caring too much at this point.

Oh yeah, speaking of Barca: ETO’O IS BACK! Lock up your daughters, put@s!

Holly, you are a b-ball freak of nature. Loving the female B-Ball fanatic on the site Slam, good draft pick.

Dec.8 at 10:03 am

Darksaber says:
Umm, Tariq? Lock up your daughters? Did Samuel pull a Kluivert i haven’t heard about? As for Barca, Ronaldinho off the bench… wow, that sucks. Wish Thierry would get back to his old 2004 Arsenal self.

Dec.8 at 10:22 am

Tariq says:
Darksaber: No Kluivert connection. It’s just that Eto’o is so lethal that my nickname for him is “The Rapist”. Crass? Yes. Apt? Also yes.

Tariq says:
By the way, does anyone else think people are talking way too much about how Holly is a woman, instead of just focusing on her writing/reporting? Maybe it’s just me. I’ve never heard Cheryl, for example, swoon repeatedly over Russ’s “cobolt eyes” or Lang’s “sumptuous, ample thighs” or Sam’s “sinewy vertebrae”. I’m just saying…
