The Miami Heat Are Imploding
By now, everyone seems to have accepted the fact that at 4-13, the Miami Heat are one of the worst teams in the Association. Well, everyone but the Heat players it appears.
Pat Riley is here to correct the misconception among his troops; the slick-haired coach went on the latest tirade against his lackluster team yesterday. Do enjoy:
“There’s only two teams in the league that have less wins than us. Until we accept that we’re 4-13 and we’re one of the worst teams in the league … then it might not change.”
Riley went as far as to say O’Neal and Wade “have to step up as leaders.”
D-Wade, in an apparent change of heart, says it’s time to play with some desperation. Shaq meanwhile, is unsurprisingly claiming to be unfazed by the turmoil surrounding his team, and takes a thinly-veiled shot at his head coach.

Shaq always takes shots at other people instead of taking responsibility for his teams shortcomings. He wants all the glory but none of the blame. Can you actually blame Kobe for wanting to get rid of the guy?

Bryan, I agree with most of your comment, but if Shaq and Kobe would have tried to get along better I think both of them would have 5 or 6 rings or there fingers by now. The Heat are terrible. How about Wade, Wright, and a pick for Kobe!. Shaq, Kobe, and Penny!

Jukai says:
I’m sure Kobe is DYING to play for a team actually worse than the Lakers. That’s Kobe’s MO, play for horrible teams.

BuckshotLefunkstiggity says:
This is another misleading headline. They are not imploding. They lack talent and health. They are where they are for a reason. When healthy, however, they can be between the 5-8 teams come playoff time. Two years ago they were amazing. That’s dog years in this league, however. Wade is hurt and disinterested in staying there long term, Shaq’s got one foot on the LAPD vice squad, Zo’s done in a few months, and j-Will is playing for himself (and his next contract this summer). They have the same problems they had in the playoffs last year: they can’t guard ANYONE off the dribble at this point, and their bigs are ultra slow to rotate. It’s simply time to overhaul. I blame their coach. He saw the malaise last season and did NATHAN to change the roster all offseason. Then he trades for Slick Rick and Mark Blount. Not exactly inspiring.

You just gotta love the Big Baby.. how about taking some of the blame for a change? Oh well, we’re talking about the same guy who refuse to play D and rebound the ball unless he gets the ball every single time on offense. What a jerk. I bet the Lakers are happy they didn’t give him that ridiculous extension he wanted. Mr. Pay Me (!!) better start showing some heart out there on the floor.

are we watching the same team, Buckshotlefunkstiggity? Jason Williams is being told to shoot MORE. I don’t think he’s playing for himself.

I can only hope a rapid, rancid moose chases Mutoni down and gore’s him with it’s antlers. Not killing you, of course, since I like you, but a good shot that act’s as an enema would be appropriate. Sorry, Marcel, but your headline is just moronic. It’s not even worth discussing the story if you are a Heat fan.

Now in the 5th season of Lakers mediocroty since Shaq left, has really made the Lakers world beaters, huh?

I’m just saying Shaq always does this. He wants to be called the leader of the team and all that and take the glory but when something goes wrong he wants to call everyone else out.”soilders not falling in line” and all that.

It sucks being an asshole and having 6 Finals appearances and 4 rings. Dude really is garbage. I really wish he would have tried harder in his career. He might have been……Patrick Ewing.

The SIXERS have more wins than the Heat!!! Eboy, look at this as a basketball fan, and not Miami Heat fan; this team is in trouble and they look like they could be headed for some trying times down the road. My only question is how much longer do they have before Riles quits on them? Although with their aging roster, Larry Brown would be a great coach for this team.
Dec.6 at 2:20 pm
Bryan says:
But I didn’t say the dude sucked. It’s easy to be praised as a good leader when you’re winning, but his whole career when things don’t go right he blames other people. It’s just a fact , that doesn’t mean he sucks but what I meant was I do and have always understood why Kobe didn’t want to play with him anymore. No the Lakers aren’t better off , but at least he doesn’t have someone who doesn’t wanna share the blame with him anymore. He got blamed for all the Lakers shortcomings anyway so f*ck it why not just make it legitimate.

Shaq on the other will take shots at coaches, teamates, jouralists , ballboys. Everyone is fair game except him , God forbid you call Shaq out for less than stellar production.

How about the entire orginazation when he couldn’t get his way….again this summer? Or, if I remember correctly you weren’t around the entire summer here when there were 789 discussions about his possible future and his bitching.

Paniscus says:
The predicament the Heat are facing was totally predictable when they traded for Shaq and leveraged their future to make all of the moves to win it all in 2006. For the record, and to avoid getting in a flame war, I’m not saying whether this was a good or a bad move. It just depends on how much stock you place in winning a championship.

they aged themselves when they made those huge trades in 06. It wasn’t gonna last. It was a guick fix and now they’re almost at teh rebuilding stage of a franchise again.

Heat will be all right. D Wade just re-gained his dunking abilities. It’s a long road to recovery. Heat goes as far as Wade goes. I think that’s pretty obvious.

Dec.6 at 4:00 pm
Rasheedionics says:
I can’t believe people still complain about Shaq falling off. Just because he’s still big doesn’t mean he can be dominant as he used to be. He’s 35 and after years of physical abuse it’s finally taking its toll. He’s been hacked, kicked and pushed since the first day he got into a league every time he touch the ball. It’s amazing that he lasted this long.

Deez Noots says:
Ricky’s good for this team guys, don’t hate. He’s gotta be the most fun player on the team to go club-hoppin with! Plus, have you seen him turn it on when he actually feels like playing? I miss him in Boston. Wins aren’t as fun without him.
Dec.6 at 4:28 pm
Deez Noots says:
And the problem with the Heat is that they can’t build a TEAM. Penny Hardaway, Dorell Wright, Daequan Cook, Smush Parker, Chris Quinn. Enough said.
Dec.6 at 4:32 pm
white hot eboy says:
You must have mistakenly put Cook’s name on that list. You’re forgiven for being shortsighted.
Dec.6 at 4:45 pm
Deez Noots says:
I see your Daequan Cook, and raise you an Earl Barron.
Dec.6 at 5:05 pm
Joel O's says:
I think… it’s not too big a deal. It’s not like the Heat weren’t gradually on the decline, since key players from that great championship retired / got older / left / got overweight and left. You’d only think they really are imploding if you expected greatness from this current bunch, which is stupid since their key supporting cast isn’t what it once was, and Shaq’s a bit more beat down than he was before.

jbn74sb says:
Presumably, assuming that all of you are above the age on 10 and have an IQ above 70 (BETCATS? CHUKAZ? Ryan?), it is not news that Shaq is once again displaying what a horrible teammate he is. Unless of course you have forgotten that he has had issues with countless teammates and coaches at everywhere he has been througout his career.

Man, the Spurs can ball, can’t they?
Dec.6 at 5:09 pm
Joel O's says:
Rather, if you see the Heat as they are - a team in transition - then you wouldn’t think they truly are imploding. Yes, Riley failed to attract a coupla big name PG’s, etc. I don’t think they can win now, but if the Heat can get another one or two young guns next year to replace the aging / retired dudes, they’ll be fine. A core of DWade, Haslem, Eboy and Ricky is decent enough in the East, which still is top-heavy at best.

Cheryl says:
I’m just saying, I love the Heat, but when I want to watch a really good team play, I catch the San An broadcasts. Or Orlando…
Dec.6 at 5:14 pm
Joel O's says:
Plus honestly, Shaq seems to have “fallen off”, but he’s still putting up 15 and 7 per. 10 years ago he would easily double that average; the fact that we think that 15 and 7 “sucks” is just testament to how unbelievably good Shaq once was. How many centers in the league right now can give you 15 and 7 every night?
Dec.6 at 5:17 pm
jbn74sb says:
For $20,000,000 this year, next year, and the year after? Give me some HGH and I’ll try to give you 15 and 7 for that money.
Dec.6 at 5:20 pm
Joel O's says:
True. $20m is a stretch. Well, ultimately the Heat knew this would happen when they sold literally their future for the present a few years back; but hey, it paid off, I guess.
Dec.6 at 5:20 pm
albie1kenobi says:
i’m with you on that Cheryl. Spurs is the team i love to watch. sue me for loving well-executed “boring” basketball. a simple bounce pass that is delivered at the right time and right spot is just as exciting as a behind the back no look pass. (okay a simple bounce pass won’t make me jump off my seat but you get the point.)
Dec.6 at 5:22 pm
Joel O's says:
*literally sold*, I mean. Would they be better right now if they had Lamar, Caron, DWade and Haslem on their team? I think so. They’d be a great team. But they wouldn’t have won the championship in 05…

they lack a healthy point guard. and please, no to bibby. its like teams always exchange williams for bibby. williams&haslem = bibby&artest might be better.
Dec.7 at 2:52 am
Sesa says:
Whoa, I won’t trade Haslem with Artest.
Artest may be an elite defender but I believe Haslem is a better post defender and better rebounder. Don’t forget that Haslem is more injury and off-court problems free.

Tell me if this is stupid but I think Mike James would be a good fit. Think about it he can score, pass and command double teams sometimes also. Plus houston already have rafer alston and aaron brooks so they can afford to give him up
