Eddy Curry’s Body Needs Time to Defrost

by Marcel Mutoni

Christmas brought no joy to the land of the Knicks. The sniping between players, coaches and media continues to fester in the locker room, on the floor, and even on the team bench.

Last night in Orlando, as promised, Isiah Thomas tinkered with his lineups and ended up sitting Eddy Curry and Zach Randolph for long stretches of the game. The result was the same as always: Yet another Knicks loss.

Afterwards, both big men were (predictably) upset, and Curry said he’d like to know when he’s going back into the game next time so as not to let his body atrophy while sitting on the pine.

“It’s extremely tough to sit that long,” Curry said. “I’m not used to it at all. Hopefully it doesn’t continue. I got to try to anticipate when I’m going in to keep my body warm. I was definitely cold going back in there.

In the future, if I even get in that position, I’d tell him [to] let me warm up, give me a minute or a warning.’

Yes, because you are not a professional athlete, accustomed to the ebb and flow of a basketball game; you need a reminder to be prepared to contribute to the team at any given time. No wonder people are questioning your ability to play in that city.

This team is the perfect example of everything that is wrong in professional sports. It’s just a bunch of younger, overpaid, big ego’s, who don’t like to listen to their coach, who himself is power hungry and ego-centric as well. Not only have the players been in the news for off court issues (steph, z-bo), but the coach and upper management have as well. It’s been said that the Coach doesn’t care for the fans, and surprise, the fans don’t care for the product. And now the players don’t even play. What’s the point anymore? Really, this team NEEDS to be blown up. It needs to be done. David Stern should take them away, pay off all of the players on the team, allow them to be free agents, and have the knicks come back as an expansion team next season with a front office assigned to them by the league…it’s what needs to be done.

“I got outrebounded by Mike Dunleavy for twenty plus games and you bench me for the only player Knick fans like? What gives?” Someone should turn Eddy Curry into a hamburger and feed him to Nate Robinson.

he just need to show his present inside his size doesn’t matter its how good he plays. i am not a knicks fan and i know they are not doing as great as they suppose to even though they are surrounded with great talent. there is always room for improvement.

I haven’t heard Isiah pushing Eddy for an All-Star spot lately. Strange.

Ah yes, I remember when the Randolph trade happened and they showed all those happy Knicks fans. Suckers.

they’re gonna get Rose or Beastley. Purge the team. Pay off whoever wants to leave. Fans will rejoice & Dolan would have successfully performed money laundering in front of everyone.

Russ Bengtson says:
I can’t wait until Jerome James is “healthy” and Isiah insists on finding him minutes, too. We’re about 10 games away from a full-on locker room brawl, I think. Hopefully Z-Bo winds up beating Eddy Curry with Isiah Thomas while Nate Robinson takes on the rest of the team.

JackBrown says:
Please sign Reuben Patterson…

Russ Bengtson says:
Eddy Curry and Fred Jones to the Sonics for Wally Szczerbiak. The Knicks get a legit shooter, the Sonics get an expiring contract and a center who could maybe be decent with the pressure off.

Dec.27 at 7:20 pm

Tenorca says:
Eddy Curry’s resume now reads “Center who could maybe be decent with the pressure off.” He’s taking that to the bank.

Ben says:
It wasn’t so long ago that SLAM Magazine was singing Eddy’s praises. Or that they were saying the Knicks were going to the Finals…

Dec.28 at 12:09 am

Russ Bengtson says:
I’d like it on the record that I NEVER sang Eddy’s praises, and was never on the “Eddy For All-Star” bandwagon. You could look it up. I’d also like to push my other proposed Curry trade: Eddy and Steph to the Heat for Shaq and Jason Williams.

If anyone has to ask, they shouldn’t deserve to be yellow.
The fall of the big man is pretty much epidomized by Eddy Curry.

Dec.28 at 11:44 am

Jared says:
LAN what the f*ck are you smoking? I’m sure Seattle wants to trade their 5th overall pick for two guys who combined suck balls…this isn’t madden, you can’t go making BS trades with draft picks and crappy players you don’t want anymore.

People talking about how Curry can’t play in NY, doesn’t have the mentality, etc? Well, how y’all like him playing for the Spurs, where Pop will torch his ass for every whining he spews. But then again, Curry playing for the spurs = a winner.

Dec.29 at 3:16 pm

QQ says:
^ A winner wouldn’t mean Eddy Curry.

Dec.29 at 5:01 pm

Art Vandelay says:
Does anybody on this planet called Earth really think ANY team would participate in a trade involving Eddy Curry? Or even sign him? Sign a 7 foot-guy who grabs only half the rebounds 6 foot 4 Jason Kidd does?
(okay, I know, many teams do, but not for such an amount of money) Don’t insult other team’s intelligence with comparing them to the Knicks-management!

Yoeri says:
I wonder, the Knicks have played so bad of lately (another loss to Chicago). And their record is just as bad as the previous 2 seasons. I thought that 06-07 was a preview of a little Playoff run for the Knicks. Turns out to be not, and I don’t expect them to turn things around. Although they did so last year until the injury bug. I hate to say this because I’m a Knicks fan but they suck right now, a lot of great talent. But it doesn’t fit like a puzzle. That’s their problem, no teamspirit and all very selfish.

Dec.30 at 6:05 pm

Yoeri says:
And something else, I remember J-Craw (the only player next to David Lee & Nate the Great that is actually showing some pride for NY and their team) saying that he was sorry about the losses off late. And what happens then, they start another losing streak. David Lee says they needed a win against the Cavs, they did and never won again. Although I’m happy about J-Craw’s game off late, and he is my only reason to smile when I check the boxscore. And now he didn’t even play. I don’t know why.
Damn this season sucks like a bitch!
Common Knicks, turn the season around!
