Maybe they should think of lowering the ticket prices. I bet that’d work.

i agree with ternoca that they should think of lowering the prices…their economic status does not allow them to afford spending on watching ball games, they trying to get their lives together…can’t be mad at the ppl for their situation, unfortunate yet it is what it is. glad to hear though that thru nba cares, they still trying to help communities.

I’m sure going back to that arena wont cause horrible memories and flashbacks to those who were stuck there. None what-so-ever.

There will be no move. The League has too much invested in New Orleans due to Hurricane Katrina. The last thing they can accept is for the home team to pull up stakes. Forgetaboutit!

Go back to Oklahoma, they want a team anyway and they’ve already embraced this club.

I live in NOLA, tickets at the NO Arena are cheap - seats at the front of the upper level are about $20. I can see why Scott is annoyed but seriously, this is not a hoops town - people don’t really come out to see the Hornets themselves, they come out when the visitors are good. Which is a bummer, because CP3 is killing it. Expect attendance to pick up when the powers are visiting. I know I’ll be going to the Suns game in two weeks.

Ummmmm, you know it’s BYRON, right?
*crosses arms, looks stern*
And the Hornets absolutely should have stayed in Oklahoma City. New Orleans is in no state to support the Hornets–and nor should they. The Saints? Yes. They’ve been there forever. The Hornets may as well be a travelling team at this point.

i know that’s lord byron, but he never thought anything negative about him until this.
N’awlins is in no state to support a basketball team, but what about an all star game? that would generate revenue for the city right? RIGHT?????

A major reason why they are having trouble building a fan base, and one that rarely gets addressed, is the issue of local broadcasts of the game. A huge portion of the metro area is un able to view the games due to an exclusive contract the Hornets signed with Cox cable pre-Katrina giving them the sole rights to air the games locally. This was not a problem pre-Katrina as Cox cable had a monopoly as the city’s only cable provider and the relative absence of Direct TV save a few homes here and there. Since Katrina, Cox has yet to extend their services beyond certain portions of the city. This has resulted in a large number of residents switching to Direct TV, including myself, where even if you purchase the League Pass you still can’t see the local games. So unless the Hornets get nationally televised a huge portion of the city can’t watch the team on TV. To put that in context, I can remember only 2 Saints games in this millenium that I have missed due to a local blackout. While televising the games won’t cause a complete reversal of the ticket situation, I think it would do wonders in terms of helping to create a fan base.
