Bibby and Artest: Bound for Soutbeach?
Even the most diehard fan can admit the following: The Miami Heat, for all intents and purposes, are dead in the water (technically, they are the worst team in the Eastern Conference).
They are dead, unless they make an enormous trade that completely changes the face of the franchise. Ah, hope…
If you’re the sort that believes Sam Smith, there’s talk that Miami is working on a deal to get Mike Bibby and Ron Artest in exchange for White-Eboy and Tricky Ricky.
There’s still talk, though, that Miami is trying to use the expiring contracts of Jason Williams and Ricky Davis to put together a deal for Mike Bibby and Ron Artest.
This would actually be a fantastic trade for the Heat, and might even put them in contention for a Playoff spot by season’s end, but it’d also be a giant steal. I don’t see how it works unless Miami throws in a few more parts. Keep working those phones, Pat Riley!

There could be few things in the L more exciting than Shaq, Wade, and Ron Ron… Bibby too?! Thats a lot of clutch.

Don’t Ron-Ron and Bibby make close to $20 million combined? I’m thinking Miami would have to add a bunch more. Also, Sam Smith NEVER concocts trade scenarios that don’t pan out.

J-Will back in Sacramento? Hell yeah.
Maybe RonRon can whip Shaq into shape.
Great trade.

Apparently Ricky can’t be traded in a deal including other players until the end of this month. That said, Bibby and Artest DO make $20 million combined, and Davis and Williams only make $16 million. They’d have to hope the Kings would take Smush Parker and Dorell Wright as well.

What happen to all the love for Ricky? I thought he was going to be the answer for the Heat? (answer to what, he-he)

miami has to do something but they are in a tough spot..this solves the issue now if this trade goes down but what happens in two years…shaq retires…maybe they get another ring but what is left for wade??

It would make the Heat a fun video game pick…how’s Dave Zirin feelin about that knicks/kings finals matchup now? Unless Julie Connor walks through that door, I don’t think Reggie stands a chance…

I don’t get why Sac would do that. Rebuilding?

Glad you’re not believing the hype eboy. For what it’s worth, I’d trade ya Pig Miller for your namesake, just so we can get back in the Beasly/Rose hunt.

If I was the Heat, I’d keep tanking. The draft is gold this year.

Jay, if Riley can milk another ring out of that team before Shaq retires, he does whatever he has to do to get it. The team’s not gonna get any worse than it is now. They’ve got nothing to lose.

Jukai says:
yeah they do, and that’s draft picks. Who cares what they do this year, the draft has around seven possible all-stars that AREN’T in Wade’s position!

Take whatever Sam Smith writes with a grain of salt. Dude is worse than Vescey. At least Pete has a sense of humor–if you like you humor of the snide sarcastic flavor.

I’m convinced that when Sam Smith doesn’t have a decent idea for a column (which is basically all the time) he grabs two random media guides, opens them each to random pages, and makes up a trade rumor.

why don’t they just draft a better point guard.. or a better whatever they need. the 2008 draft is packed

Jared says:
It’s not certain who will or won’t come out for the draft, but you have to figure you’ll get a handful of the great freshmen, plus Hibbert’s comin out, and MIA could use a franchise big, he looks like he’s gonna be a good pro if he can stay out of foul trouble.

The sooner locker-room-cancer-Ricky Davis is out of the Heat, the better. And has-been Jason Williams too, for that matter. To get Bibby and Artest in exchange is a hefty bonus. Ricky Davis is THE most over-rated players ever in league history.

Russ Bengtson says:
Which begs the question of why Sacramento would make that trade. Because even if they’re gonna blow it up and start over, the guys they’d really need to get rid of are Brad Miller and Shareef. Artest is a BARGAIN at $7 mill per.
Dec.17 at 4:52 pm
nothin personal says:
He keeps Salmons and Garcia out of the lineup though. Plus, they probably like Miller to school Spencer Hawes how not to be a Bush enthousiast and play the High post game. Shareef and Kenny Thomas is what’s killing them.

I agree that it seems a little lopsided. The Kings would be stupid to even consider that deal. They could get better value trading with a WNBA team. I’d take Lauren Jackson over Ricky and Eboy.

Yo struts, Lauren jackson was seriously considering playing in the NBL, the Aussie mens league. No joke, Lots of NBL coaches were giving all their opinions and such and they all thought that she could play (well) the Rashard Lewis style 4. btw, this sucks 4 sac-town.

Sac would be stupid to pull this one off. That trade isn’t even worth it for just Artest. Why would they “throw in” Bibby. The guy still has game. www.clutch3.com

Biggamest says:
There are many things that both teams need to think about in this deal. One if you look at this deal it is one sided it is favoring the heat they know that if they get bibby and artest it will help them but what are wiiliams and davis going to do for the Kings.Williams is doing crap in Miami so what makes people think he wiil do something with the Kings and davis is unknown to me.So look at it Heat:Shaq Wade Bibby Artest Kings:Miller Williams Davis
that is a stupid one sided deal and if the Kings Accept there stupid because it will not help them in anyway shape or form
