Beef: Horry vs Wallace
Robert Horry made his return to the court a few days ago, and after having accomplished very little on the floor, he did the next best thing: Got his name in the paper.
He compared his pitiful line to the sad offensive production of one Ben Wallace.
“I’m averaging 2 blocks a game and shooting zero percent,” Horry said following the game. “Just call me Ben Wallace.”
Wallace, as you might expect, was less than amused when the stinging remarks were relayed to him by eager reporters.
Wallace heard about the quote after Monday’s game and responded with a smirk, “I’ll definitely check him out to see what he’s talking about. He don’t want no problems with me.”
For his sake, I can only hope that Robert Horry was joking, because I don’t think hip-checks work too well on this dude.

Let’s face it, Wallace has been a disappointment. Robert Horry, oh, he just keeps getting rings.

If Ben’s fighting resume is highlighted by the RonRon/Palace incident, these two would be as entertaining as two limbless men in a hand thowing contest if heated words got to escalation.

Watching the Palace video again just reitarated why I can’t stand the Pistons, their fans especially (scum of the worst kind in that crowd that night), and Ben Wallace for being a semi-talented, one dimensional piece of sh*t. Thanks for the firestarter so close to leaving work and fighting rush hour traffic, Mutoni.

so much hate for a brotha who just happens to have a ring and not much to offer offensively…u gotta respect the D of Ben though, only person that could guard shaq 1-on-1, and how tall is he, 6-8?

Nguni: That ain’t fair. Sure, he could guard Shaq one on one when Shaq’s career was already slipping, but that wasn’t exactly 40/20 Laker Shaq. 40/20 Laker Shaq would eat Ben Wallace’s face.

white hot eboy says:
Shaq owned Ben in the Finals that the Lakers lost to the Pistons. That sh*t was on 24 who couldn’t do much more than hit the game winner at home. Yes, it was the Lakers only win, but Kobe couldn’t walk all over Prince like he does normally.

he’s right, so what’s all the fuzz about? not only is Wallace having a horrible year, he’s become the most overpaid player in the league, chuck hayes almost matches his stats…you can’t completely respect a guy who never bothered to develop some kind of offensive game, hell, even Tyson Chandler is trying..

Ben Wallace is so washed up he should endorse Tide. Prove me wrong, Big Ben.

Rodman never developed an offensive game, but then again he never expected to be part of the offense.

Kevin says:
that was pretty funny lol.. and yea, the difference between Rodman and Wallace is that one understood his role.. Ben Wallace still averages a couple fadeaway airballs a game at this point and he’s a 35yr old vet.. that, and the fact that Rodman was better on D, better as a rebounder, and was a better athlete..

Lang Whitaker says:
But wasn’t that why Ben Wallace signed with the Bulls, because they promised him that he could be a bigger part of their offense than he was in Detroit?

Re-watching that video for the first time in at least a year is a trip. You forget how awful it really was. Gahhh, that one damn fan who had to take it over the top. I remember the night that it happened, we were on the road and I was watching the game in my hotel room after curfew. I flew out of my room and woke some of the guys up immediately to watch. We were all stunned, absolutely shell-shocked. Before long we had everyone in the room as we all stood mouths agape at the horror in front of us.

I still remember when Ben Wallace got in a bit of a rumble with someone from the Celtics a few years ago. The Celtic guy (I can’t remember who, but he was a crappy big man I think) punched Ben in the jaw and he didn’t flinch. After the game a reporter was like, “How about that punch in the face?” and Ben was all like, “What punch? No, seriously. What punch?” I wouldn’t mess with him.

Ben looks like he could body Horry and bury him with his bare hands. I remember seeing an NBA commercial where he’s doing curls with the 110-lb. dumbbells in both hands. He’s a beast and Horry better keep his comments to himself before Big Ben cleans his clock.

Rodman was still a double-digit rebounder in his late 30’s, even when he had his “comebacks”. Ben Wallace can’t even seem to do that now, which is really saddening.

and remember, rodman used to score 20-25 pts back in his college days. ben wallace? dunno.
Dec.5 at 12:59 am
RV says:
Yeah rodman understood and embraced his role, he gave it 100%, and i don’t think he ever went through a stretch like big ben, its not just his bad shooting that’s been a problem, he’s had games where he played 30+ mins and had like 5 rebs and nothing else, no consistency and no offense

eboy, I object about what you saying on Kobe.
On 05, the other Lakers is just passing around the perimeter until the shotclock reaches 05 and then they pass the ball to Kobe. Credit for Tay for holding Kobe down, but the rest of the Lakers besides Shaq broke down mentally because they got no calls from officials.
BTW, Wallace had more money but Horry got more rings. I still think it’s a low blow for Horry to said that in a public.
I’m glad I’m not his fan anymore.

I agree with you eboy, on how the detroit fans in the arena became a pig. They have taken hometown pride waay too far.

Are you kidding me? Any arena in America (save Utah, cause, you know…) would do the exact same thing in that situation It’s mob mentallity against something not entirely right. Could you imagine if one of the most hated players in the NBA got in a fight with Baron Davis in the Oracle Arena? Oh my god!

Also, after watching that video, I’m more convinced than ever that Steven Jackson should have been suspended from the NBA for eternity. Ron Ron gets beer thrown at him, goes after the guy he thought threw it, people start fighting him to protect the guy, he fights those people. Jackson seems to jump into the crowd and start punching people randomly in the face. Why did he only get six days suspension again?

Ben Wallace is a great help defender who grabs tons of rebounds. End of Story! He did not come close to guarding Shaq 1-on-1. Rasheed did a better job when matched up with Shaq than did Ben. Shaq just bullied Ben.

I wouldn’t be so sure Country Ben could take Ron Ron. He is strong as an ox though. That video is HIGHLY watchable for several reasons: (1) The Detroit Fans who were clearly throwing beer and other stuff in the Pacers faces AND throwing sucker punches from behind deserved to get prosecuted (one way or another…). (2) Whoo Jackson…man, what can you say? Just when you think you’ve heard/seen it all - like a classic literature he reveals things upon re-examination you didn’t see the first time around adding even more depth and meaning to his character. When he is walking through the tunnel back to the changing room, he clearly says ‘We ride together, mayne’. So ‘hood. So so hood. (3) Jamaal Tinsley (yes the often soft pg you thought was paper thin) literally takes out a balding security guard in red who tries to stop him entering the fray in a classic ‘Nigga Moment’ (get your Boondocks up son). (4) CHUCK PERSON??!! CHUCK PERSON?!! Chuck Person and Reggie Miller escorted Ron Ron off the court? Is it just me or doesn’t that just make the whole situation even more surreal? (5) They gave Larry Brown the Mic to calm everyone down - and he was speechless. Classic. (6) Who is Rip Hamilton going to fight? The waterboy? C’mon Rip…know yourself. (7) Pistons Fans Vs. Eagles fans, straight up, no weapons, hand to hand - who wins? Ahhhh…good times.

Oh, and as far as Ben Wallace goes, I’m wondering if he used his bully boy tactics to get Paxson to offer this absurd contract? ‘Pax, $60M over 4, no questions or expectations asked…You don’t want it with me…’
