Antoine Walker Doesn’t Miss Miami

by Marcel Mutoni

Sure, he probably misses the nightlife and especially the great restaurants (sorry, ‘Toine fat jokes are hard-wired into my brain), but Antoine Walker doesn’t miss a single thing about playing for coach Pat Riley. In fact, ‘Toine says he couldn’t wait to get outta there.

‘’It was better for me to leave,'’ Walker said before Monday’s game.

“Riles kept my name in the papers for something negative, and it was a back-and-forth thing over body-fat. I was getting tired of that.'’

Walker has a point: Riley isn’t the easiest guy in the world to play for.

But you must understand something: The man works 18 hour days! You try being cheery after that.

I’ve never heard of a guy who complained about the coach who got him a championship ring. Has that ever happened before?

Oh right. Kobe!

Minnesota gets a bad rap; it’s a great city. Hell, Prince is from there. Now Cleveland? There’s a sh*thole.

Is Eboy just ignoring heat stories from now on?

The Heat are potentially ‘Knicks-Lite’

This isn’t a Heat story, Shia.

Bryan says:
It sort of is.

Miami doesn’t miss Antoine Walker

Dec.18 at 4:50 pm

Jared says:
And the Heat have Shaq…i dont care how washed up/out-of-shape/injured he may be…I’d rather have Shaq now than anything the Knicks have had on their roster in the last 12 years. Knicks-Lite, come on Harlem_World…nobody is even close to how bad (and f*cked) our knicks are.

Dec.18 at 4:51 pm

Myles Brown says:
The Heat situation is probably worse just because people actually had expectations for them.

Dec.18 at 4:55 pm

white hot eboy says:
Who were those people Myles, because everyone on this website and the mag had none for the team, and you guys are the only basketball writers that I pay attention too so again, who had expectations, besides me. (Sorry Cheryl, you dropped off a month ago)

Captain America says:
Hate Minnesota Nov-Feb, but hate Miami, Texas, Phoenix, etc. May-Sep.

Dec.18 at 5:07 pm

Bryan says:
I didn’t think they would be this bad eboy.

Dec.18 at 5:07 pm

Myles Brown says:
Am I supposed to have a list? No one had any championship aspirations for this team, but they were expected to at least make the playoffs. And if you don’t pay any attention to anyone else, why would it matter what they said anyway?

Dec.18 at 5:17 pm

Captain America says:
The Heat have a $72.5M payroll this season, $52M committed money for next year, and $51M for 2009/2010. Twolves have $68M payroll this season, $55M committed money for next year (includes Juwan Howard @ $7.4M; T-Hud @ $6.3M) and $35M for 2009/10. The Heat has one of the highest paid bench warmers in Blount @ $6.8M this year, $7.4M next year, and $8M for 2009/10.

Dec.18 at 5:19 pm

white hot eboy says:
No, Myles, you shouldn’t have a list, but saying “they were expected to make the playoffs” can apply to 24 teams and there’s only 16 spots to go around. I don’t think they were supposed to be that much better than the Knicks, who during the summer on this website, were being picked to make serious noise in their division, positive noise. So, what’s the difference? There really is none. The Heat have sucked, with and without Wade. Their best games this season have come against good teams and they’ve looked horrid against garbage teams so playing to their competition is the norm for this group.

good because miami sucks even though they won last night

Simmer down Eboy.

Dec.18 at 5:40 pm

white hot eboy says:
I’m not mad, Shia, just saying. If this was the Spurs we were talking about it would be remarkable. But it’s not so…

Dec.18 at 5:44 pm

Captain America says:
W.H.E. Haslem is a very good player. D’Wade is just coming back from serious injury. The big decision for the Heat is on Shaq, At $20M this season and the next two. Zo (at $2.7M) and J-Will (at $9M) come off the books after this season. I’d give D’Wade a few more months to get back fully.

Dec.18 at 7:25 pm

Gumdrop says:
I don’t think Heat fans want to wait a few months to win some ball games.

Dec.18 at 7:26 pm

Captain America says:
I don’t think they have any choice.

Dec.18 at 7:27 pm

Gumdrop says:
agreed

HeatFansAreStupid says:
Funny the Heat are like 6 and 17 so to say they don’t miss Antoine is complete BS. (and don’t even give me James Posey and Kapono because Kapono was a bench warmer when they won and Posey was a defensive stopper that hit a 3 that mattered once. Walker carried that team against Chicago and NJ especially NJ) Any team that didn’t expect a healthy Wade and Shaq to be better then 6-7 and 17 is an idiot. Who knows how many games the Heat team could have one if somebody would pass Shaq the ball because right now nobody will. Ricky Davis included.
Walker is not fat and being in Riley shape is a lot different. 10% body fat at 240 pounds is unhealthy and Walker does not weigh 262. Riley made that up like he makes up stuff all the time.

Toine..u fat n we dont miss yo lazy a** either.

Dec.18 at 11:35 pm

I’d rather have David Lee than Shaq right now too, ESPECIALLY considering their respective salaries (I think Lee is making under a million per).

Sesa says:
Nobody controlled ‘Toine’s foods in Minny. Why wouldn’t he be happy in Minny?

Dec.19 at 7:14 am

Heri says:
Shaq is pathetic at this point, but what’s crazy is that he still thinks he is the man. I still believe it comes from a lack of motivation; what was he doing 18 months ago that he couldn’t do right now? And for what reason? If Miami hadn’t won a ring, I think he’d still do 20-10 per game.

Hey, I’d rather have zaza pachulia than shaq. HONESTLY.
