Big Al to Stay in Minny for a While
The Minnesota Timberwolves and center Al Jefferson have agreed to a five-year, $65 million extension. My, my, that’s a lot of dough for a twenty-two year old.

Minnesota making yet another wise decision. Although, in actuality, I think he’s got a lot of upside.

Would you take anything less? Maybe 20 mill and a romantic dinner date with Kevin McHale?

…And so it begins again. T-wolves locking up a player and (subsequently) their free agency money. Talk about missing the f*cking point.

According to www.allthingshoops.com, it’s actually 55 million with 10 million in incentives and signing bonus. I believe the Wolves low balled big Al.

You’re kidding right? I’ll take a 22-year-old Al Jefferson, who is capable of posting KG numbers, for $13M/year, over a 32-year-old, $23M/year KG. In other news, Gerald Green’s fourth year extension was not picked up.

Big Al has the best post game since Hakeem, though stylistically (and defensively) they’re worlds apart. If he develops a face-up game you’re looking at 20 and 12 every night on the regular, with the occasional 30-20 against teams with no bigs (I’m looking at you, Warriors).

Al Jefferson doesn’t whine about losing players (what is Sprewell doin’ now?).

Big Al’s potential is off the charts. If they can develop this dude, then they probably underpaid him. it was a pretty good gamble when you think about it. Say Al blossoms, then you have 2-3 years to have an All-star playing at 13 million a year. If he doesn’t then you have kwame brown. most of these waste of space bigmen make about 13 a year so that makes a lot of sense.

I don’t doubt Big Al’s talent or potential, but what exactly does “another direction” mean? To me, it just seems that they are doing the exact same thing they did before. I really like the wolves…I just hope they don’t repeat past mistakes.

T Cooper: Looks like it will be aired locally on FSN and Sun Sports but no national coverage. I seriously doubt there will be very many national games for the T-Wolves this year.
