Man, i’m an even bigger fan of Gil now. My life story sounds a lot like his, without the whole Arizona/NBA millions/paintball adventure stuff. Sadly a lot of us grew up without dads, but growing up w/o a mom is crucial. I went through that til I was 6 (blessed to have a mom since then who never felt like a step-mom) and it’s cool to see someone overcome that. It’s inspiring me to get off slamonline and actually work towards something… lol

I’d also like to say that I don’t understand Etan Thomas sometimes. Was it really that wrong of Ivan Carter to assume that a problem that led to OPEN HEART SURGERY could be a career-threatening event? And was it wrong for him to bring up other basketball players who suffered from heart ailments? I feel like Mr. Carter was doing nothing more than expressing concern for Mr. Thomas’s well-being.
