So, Wait, Kobe Is Still a Laker?

Bryant practiced with the team yesterday, and he’s expected to play tonight against Seattle. But, I thought ESPN said…

I wouldn’t have expected anything else from the Kobe show.

I blame Luke Walton for all of the Lakers problems. And due to it being Luke’s fault, I have to logically conclude that it is Bill Walton’s fault. Bill is to blame for everything bad in the world.

As Lang said yesterday, and I am paraphrasing, this story is over-analyzed. I mean seriously, just because a business owner says that his wares are for sale, barring the right offer, doesn’t mean they are being sold indefinitely. He runs a business, and nothing is set in stone; especially in a business scenario. But the main thing is, who is to blame? In fairness to Dr. Buss (I can’t believe I am about to do this!), Kobe made the public trade demands far before Dr. Buss said he would listen to trade offers from a business standpoint. Regardless of whether Dr. Buss made “false promises” to Kobe or not, Kobe, essentially, started it! Sorry Holly, but that’s how it is. . .

kobe will be traded but it will be in the middle of the season after a 5-8 game losing streak. it’s just a matter of who can’t take the losing more, and i have a feeling that’s kobe.

We’re all tired of this. Kobe will get traded in January, after the Lakers keep losing.

I wonder if L.A. just held on to Kobe to get more season tickets, jersey’s, box seats, and so on sold. Now they are willing to let him go since they have milked him for as much money as they could. I think the same thing happened to A.I. last year. Kobe to Chicago sounds nice. He’ll have a better supporting cast and maybe he’ll learn from Jordan’s example and actually pass the ball and use his teammates. I even think the Lakers could make the playoffs if they hurry up and trade Kobe soon.

Russ Bengtson says:
Everyone involved in this whole Kobe non-story needs to get punched in the face. Jerry Buss, Kobe, Ric Bucher, Marc Stein, everybody. I’m calling Charles Oakley. I also think–since ESPN is Worldwide Leading the charge–that Ruben Patterson needs to pay a visit to Bristol. He can stop this, right? (If not, at least he and Mike Tirico can talk shop.)

With Buss saying he would ‘listen’ to offers and the resounding silence from everyone (even the BETcats) doesn’t it seem that Kobe has become untradeable?

Zoran says:
Dallas? There’s no possible way I see Kobe playing alongside Dirk and Howard. He’s selfishness just doesn’t fit in for some reason. Chicago could be a more realstic approach, keeping in mind they’d be willing to give up half of their roster.

Ken H. says:
From Realgm.com Reached by email, ESPN’s Ric Bucher, a long-time Bryant confidant who over the summer predicted that Bryant would never wear a Lakers’ uniform again, had a more measured response. “I believe he’s feeling his basketball mortality for the first time,” Bucher wrote. “He’s not willing to risk his assets — a restored image after the Colorado incident and $19.5 million in salary — to force the Lakers to move him.” ESPN is blowing this way out of proportion.

Confidant? CONFIDANT! Hahahahahahahahahahaha.

Slick Nick Da Ruler says:
Bucher and Sheridan literally report nonsense. Chicago won’t make any trades until both Gordon and Dung are resigned, which will raise their salaries from $3 million to roughly $10 million for Deng and $8 million for Gordon. Nocioni, due to his contract resgin, cannot be traded until Dec. 15. This severely impacts the Lakers hopes of gutting Chicago’s team for Kobe. Lets just wait for Dec 15. LA will be a .500 team, and desperate.

i expect kobe to stay a laker for this season to be hoest..it is LA …i do not care how upset he is…from a biz move you do not trade your marquee player puts butts in seats and without him there is not way this team is on tv 25 times per year much less 10! that being said if they upgraded the roster we would not be having this discussion..so it is in the FO’s court to do what is right!
